I agree that it takes concentration. The small bites as well as the chewing. Also I made sure not too put too much on my plate. I figure if I want more later I can have it but better not to overdo it. Had cottage cheese and apple/cherry baby food. It was delicious!

I cant eat more than 1/2 cup of food. I eat my meal out of a 1/2 cup container. I have learned how to master what I put in those containers. :)

I have layered and "casseroled" my meal in those containers to get my meat and veggies. For instance, tomorrow I am going to have sweet potatoes and chicken

Victorious - that's about it for me too. I also mixed/layered. For lunch I had baby food turkey with gravy on top of some mashed potatoes. Gosh that was good too. So many choices now after almost one month of liquids/shakes only!

I started mushies today too! I just had 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese, and I'm about to have 1/2 cup lentil Soup. I was kinda scared to eat real food again, but it's been in me 5 minutes now, so far so good

YAY!!! Congrats!!!

Omg, really great! :) just to feel normal again.....my mouth wasn't used to the physical sensation of chewing, like I forgot how to eat! Lol

I ate so slow I felt like I was going in slow motion!! LOL, I was so happy and did not want it to end. Eventhough it was a small basic meal, it was soooo good just to chew and taste cooked food other than Soup again.

I started my mushies on Thursday and I still can't even eat a lot which is wonderful to me. Not sure if I'm scared of overeating & getting sick or if I'm not that hungry. I'm still drinking Protein Shakes to get my Proteins in but I find that I love egg beaters now. I eat 1 egg beater in the morning & have a glass of milk an hour later & I'm not hungry all day until around 8pm or so but I'm trying my best to get to that goal of getting the amount of Protein I need in & it's really hard. Drinking 64oz of Water is even harder for me. I never thought that taking sips will be so hard, I mean I can take the sips but after a while I forget that I'm drinking something & not finish the water. Crazy but I guess this all takes some time getting use to. Good Luck everyone & Happy New Year!

Ahhh, it's the mushie things in life. Congrats to entering the next stage of your journey.

Time to start practicing your band rules. Small bites (nickle size), chew chew chew and wait 1 minute between bites.

Good luck on your journey!

Debbie - my doc had me do Clear Liquids the day of surgery, then Protein Shakes, milk, and strained cream Soups for a week. Week 2 I started puréed mushies. Next week Friday I get to start on soft foods like chicken and seafood. Week 4 I am back to regular foods. Each doc is different from what I see on these boards.

I should have, but I did buy several plates. A set for work and home.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
