Port Incision Painful and Hard

I will call my doc but wanted to see if anyone has thoughts on this. I'm 9 days post op and my port incision has become a bit painful. I don't think it's red and it's not oozing. But about two days ago I noticed it felt hard underneath.

I'm 10 days post op and mine is still swollen and hard. I think it just takes time for your body to accept it.

For 7wks my port site would bulge in and out and even now at 9 wks every once in awhile it will.

Especially when I'm doing a lot of bending. Still gets just a little sore too. The port is sewn into a muscle and that swells up & down for a while. That will be the site that takes the longest to heal.

As long as the incision is not red,or infected you should be ok. On Monday just give your Drs office a call for reassurance.

Yes, that is the one that takes the longest to heal. It will be sore longer and be more painful than others. I don't think mine felt ok for at least a month or more. Even at my six week appt, the doc reassured me I still had swelling and it would get better. Again, feel free to call doc.

Hope your recovery is going well.

I'm 7 weeks post op. mine took a few weeks to stop hurting, and every once in awhile if I bend over a certain way I get a sharp pain. Also if one of my kids is sitting on my lap and lean back on it it gets a little sore. I think this is normal, I mention to my doctor and she didn't seem concerned.

im 9 days post op and my side is so sore and feels like it burns. i dont have a port incision its under my skin about 5in from my belly button. i cant move without pain :( and imi not losing so all this pain and aggervation is not even paying off!

Thank you for sharing. I am 9 days post-op. and the port has been itching and hurting. Just figured in time it would get better.

This may seem like a silly question iam five days post op where is the port I think I can feel something on my left side And it hurts?

Candy, have you removed your steri-strips yet? I was told to do so on Day 5, at which point it became obvious where my port incision was.

No I haven't I was told not to touch them for at least a week?? Is everyone's in a different place ?

Do we all have five incisions sites? I didn't know if I was different because I had a major stomach surgery last year and already have a large scar in the middle of my stomach????

Hang in there GF! You're only getting started and things will get better and this is not the time for losing, but healing. I promise you'll be happy in a short time.

You're absolutely correct. Itching means healing and the port site stays sore for some time.

I have 5 incision site too, 3 small ones, 2 larger. Port site the biggest. 9wks out now and they're just now shrinking and fading.

Most likely that is your port. It stay sore for awhile and it feels like a big knot under your skin,

Tomorrow will be one week since I had my surgery and I'm still very sore around my incisions and I'm having a little back pain. I have 4 incisions, 3 little ones and a one right above my belly button to the right a little that's about an inch wide. My strips are still on and was told that they would come off on their own.

Went back to work today it was ok but I feel more sore than I had been, probably from getting in and out of my chair all day.

Good luck with your recovery!!
