Im having my surgery 6 am Monday, and my Mother just informed me that she won't be offering me any kind of support whatsoever because she disagrees with the surgery because she thinks it's too risky, and that I could lose weight on my own. Her words were so hurtful, and this happening one week after my boyfriend broke up with me, and surgery in less than 48 hours is just so painful and overwhelming

This decision is yours and the only person who needs to agree is yourself. I firmly believe positive thinking breeds positive things. Go in there Monday with the thought that your making a choice to change your life for the better and become a happier healthier person.

It's unfortunate we cannot pick our relatives. Surround yourself with positive people... You will be stronger for it,

As all the previous posters said, you got this and surrounding yourself w/ positive people is what you need to do. It sounds like you have had some toxic situations w/ the bf, family, etc. You are a grown woman and know what is right for you. Please don't let this discourage you. It isn't right that she is trying to guilt you or punish you.

Be strong, you have done the prep, done your research and came to this decision for yourself. Amazing many of the non-supporters are the ones that come around later after they see results....

Please find positive people to surround yourself with as Floridays said. We will get that Chicago area group of banders together so we can all be supportive of one another. Please fee free to PM anytime you would like to talk. I would be happy to listen.

You can do this!!! Hugs!!

I am so sorry that you are having such a trying time. It's unfortunate that the ones we love the most hurt us the most sometimes! You can do this, you WILL do this! We are here for you!!! Hugs!!

I'm so sorry you feel alone in this. My husband is supportive of my procedure, but he did say I should be sure I'm doing this for myself and not him and he's right. Hopefully you will meet others that have had/are having weight loss surgery and can form a comraderie with them. I've already met a few people while sitting in the waiting room! Just exchange email addresses and keep in touch, plus attend some support groups and I'm sure you will find some folks to surround yourself with. This is a chance for you to prove those naysayers wrong! Let their negativity be your fuel to keep you motivated. Damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
