The Honest Truth....

Recommended Posts

My surgeon was great but the staff had so many people going through at the time I was going through that they were running out of paperwork and other giveaways that I should have gotten. I never got the free food scale, paperwork on what to eat after the initial month of liquids and mushies, etc. The waiting room was so full when I was getting ready for the planned surgery that it was standing room only. Not only did I have to drive 1 1/2 hours away to get to this doctor who was one of the most highly recommended, but waiting almost 2 hours to get in to see him or his partner was a day long project. I am more than satisfied with my Dr. Atkinson but his staff probably should have been better on planning appointments so that we could get more time with the doctor instead of being rushed through. I actually talked more and longer to the PA who was wonderful and very informative and offered me to call him anytime when the doctor was not available. I am a success story and even though I have no fills, I have not been back to them since the first year of surgery. Our insurance will no longer cover him because he is in a bordering state and the insurance coverage has changed. I will have to find another doctor in Arizona but hopefully nothing will go wrong until then.

I cant say enough good things about my dr and his staff. Everyone there is great. I see my dr once a month and if I need a fill between then the nurse does those on certain days and I can go see her. Anytime I have a question I can usually talk with a nurse right then. Especially in the beginning when I was nauseated alot. I am so glad I went with this group and would. I saw my Dr last Thursday and he acted so proud of my weight loss. He shook my hand and told me I was loosing beautifully. I have several friends who are nurses at the hospital where he practices and they love him. That says a lot when the nurse sees the real him and love him. I couldnt get or ask for a better dr.

I do use this site to get information and to ask questions but I dont rely on it completely. I think and hope people are asking questions just to see what others think or fill. I see some people on here asking questions when their drs office is closed and people acting so rude to them for asking. I think they are just wanting some reassurance until the office opens.

What I love the most:

2 years free fills

Anything goes wrong in two years, surgery 100% paid

Full gym membership for $20 a month with the Doctor three times a week plus

Zumba classes

Each fill you see a nurse, a nutritionist, plus the doctor

They offer different monthly classes, like scrap booking before and after results.

We get emails directly from the doctor with great healthy recipes twice a week.

These are just a few things that makes Dr. Curry and his staff wonderful and very caring.

I don't think people are rude or mean to be. The problem is not all doctors have the same plans and guidelines. We don't want to give information that might be different. Its great to get support and advice but ultimately you have to answer to your doctor.

I think that's accurate some of the time but we have all read the posts from people who really don't seem to have a clue which I find very sad and concerning... So I wondered if it was because the dr put out the advice and they just aren't following it or the advice and support just isn't there. From what I am reading most successful people stay close to their dr and staff throughout their journey. Granted the exceptions are there but it seems those who fail have less monthly contact. Just my observations and certainly not based on any scientific study. ;)

My doc and all of the staff are so nice and there to help!! My doctor has had lap band for 10 years. I had my post op appointment where I saw 2 nurses. As I was leaving my doc saw my husband and asked how I was doing. So I turned the corner and said I was doing great and he high fives me and have me a hug and said I'm so happy to hear that!! They explain everything so well and are there to answer any questions I have. I'm pretty sure my doc does my first fill and I have to do a class before, then nurses do fills after that. They do group meetings every Tuesday. I'm self pay and I get all first year fills with the $9,900 for surgery. I'm happy as could be with my Doctor!!!

Wow! That's great...sounds like you picked a great Dr...I would love to have all that! Our local gym, costs $110 per month...that's their way of taking advantage of being the only outfit in town. It's ridiculous.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
