Hmm.. Is This Normal?

Recommended Posts

Hey all.. this is my 3rd day post op.. I am feeling alright, only thing is, around my port is very sensitive. Like, almost sharp pain sorta when i touch ( around ) it. Only during certain times also, like right now it feels fine, I just woke up and as I got up it hurt to sit up and when I touched around it , it was very sensitive and a sharp soreness, tender. Is this normal or should I call my surgeon? I also have these hiccup type things inside my chest to tummy, the best way for me to describe it, has anyone had this? it hurts when it happens , last as long as a hiccup. Anyway, thanks again! would appreciate any feedback!

I think you are perfectly fine. You are going to feel more sore at that location than at any other incision spot. Everyone is different so go with your body but you had alot just done to that area so it is going to be sore. Mine was sore for the first two weeks there... and even now that I am 9 weeks post sometimes it feels "weird" there..... If that spot feels very hot or if there is any discharge call the dr. but honestly I think it is just normal. Good luck on your new adventure in life and congrats on your surgery! It is awesome!

Sounds normal to me....my port area was so sore I couldn't sit up with out a pillow or holding my port...I couldn't even wash my hands without holding one against the port area. Doctor told me some people experience the port pain but many don't...really depends on where the port is on each individual person. congrats on being post op and good luck on the journey ahead :)

I dont have any port pain at all. I am one of the lucky ones because I didnt have to take any extra painkillers and I was out shopping that afternoon. I do believe that it is due to the fact that I worked out 3x per week and had my personal trainer 1x per week for months before my surgery. The gas pains were not unbearable either and only in my shoulders. They have almost disappeared now.

I could have wrote this 6 days ago. I found laying down for just 10 mins helped. It will get better every day. Its the swelling and gas. You could call your Dr to give you peace of mind. Also my port does aggravate me too. It swells up and down, but this too shall pass. I walked around and pounded on my chest . Walk, walk walk get rid of the gas! Going for 1st postop tomorrow we'll see! : )

Ya, sounds normal. My port area was super tender and took a long......long time to heal.

Congrats on being banded!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
