Hello, my surgery date is December 27th. I would really like to hear how you both did during the days after your surgery. I am having mine done on a Friday and going back to work on Monday. What are your thoughts on returning to work so early. I have a desk job. Cant wait to hear your stories!

Hi CAtoTX. I had my surgery on Wednesday of last week so it's my 4th day after surgery. I had sone pain on the first few days, but I managed it with the Prilosec. The gas pains were the worst though. Lots of walking around and some gasx helped a little. I was also super tired for the first few days so listen to your body and rest when you need to. Don't plan on doing anything but recovering. I stopped pain meds on the third day and that helped a lot with gas/being blocked. I think if you take it very easy on the Monday you might be ok at work. You probably won't be 100%. Good luck!!! And let us know how it goes :)

XxLulu

I returned to work a week after surgery. I think it depends on what you do for a living. I'm a pharmacy technician so I found problems with my energy level. I also had problems bending to pull meds or get a prescription since my port area is still swollen. Good luck

So tomorrow will be my first week post surgery. I've been pretty sore and frustrated that I'm having trouble sleeping at night. If I sleep on my back it feels like my stomach is pushing down on the band ,sleeping on my right side I feel like band and port are just dangling from where its stitched inside. than my left side feels like I'm squishing my port and oh boy does my incisions hurt. I just wish I could get a good nights rest without the tossing and turning. In the mornings I feel at my best with no back or shoulder pains.(they are the worst)By the evening everything starts to ache and then I get those horrible gas pains that just kill my shoulder and back ... The incisions don't hurt much as they feel uncomfortable ,unless you try laying on them or try bending over for anything.I must say with all of these squats I've been doing I'm pretty sure I'm going to have one nice booty lol. oh yeah if you have any kittens around my best advice is to keep them as far away as possible. they will try super jumping onto your port every time .

FYI I haven't used any type of pain medication since surgery and I'm planning on returning to work in 4 days.

I had surgery 12/6/13 and felt Ok by Thursday. I was able to work from home with my laptop but I only worked 4 hours instead of 8. I felt tired due to the very little calorie intake. I worked 6 hours from home Friday and felt a little better. I returned to work for a full day on 12/16. That first day was minimal discomfort. I also have a desk job that is 98% computer work. From day 1-9 post surgery I wasn't over 100-200 calories a day. Today is day 17 and I still take in only 300-500 calories a day. I only felt a tad more energetic around day 12.

I was banded yesterday and came home late this morning. A little tired and sore. I am sipping slowly and walking. Looking forward to a few more days from now when my stomach muscles will feel better.

I was banded December 10th. On my one week check up I had lost 13 pounds. I get my first fill the 9th. I don't feel swollen so I haven't had problems with any kinds of food though. Will that feeling return once I start with my fills.I definitely don't eat like before but I just don't wasn't sure.

Mandy,

I've been banded 12/6 and today was my first day of eating bread. I am eating cottage cheese and oatmeal for Breakfast and something like tuna for lunch. I most likely will get my first fill 1/22/14. Now that I've eaten bread, I know it went through ok as I think I am 90% healed and now able to do it. I also like you, do not eat like before. So I think it is ok in moderation and less portions.

I too have wondered what will happen when I get my first fill. Some people I know had a fill and took one bite of a burger and it was very painful and came back up. I'm thinking as you progress into fills, you will learn you can no longer eat anything. Some things will get stuck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
