Does anyone have any idea of how to get food up that is stuck???? I had a fill last week and I guess I got something stuck this weekend and I am having horrilbe pains in my chest and throat. I am sure this is what it is since I have seen this on some other things I have googled. I still can't find anywhere that is says how to get it up. Generally I do my best to cough the item up.

I have heard that guzzling a carbonated drink quickly can work. Just do it next to the sink as apparently it might come up like a fountain.

Some people swear by papaya enzymes - I have tried but they don't work for me.

Try sucking crushed ice. Your throat may be swollen and irritated from trying to bring the item up and if it is the ice can help to reduce the swelling which might in turn help to move the item.

BUT

If you can't get Water down then you can't wait until tomorrow to see your Dr as you will end up dehydrated. You may need to go to ER so that they can get an IV into you to keep you hydrated.

Thank you so much...I will try it. All I have had today is about 6oz or Water and 4 oz of chicken broth. It just hurts so dang bad to drink anything. I have had my band for 9 months and never had this happen. It is weird. I will try it. Thank you so much. I am at my wits end..

Well I tried the drinking a diet coke... Didn't work..all I did was throw up a lot of foam. I did eat some instant grits that I watered down and it stayed.

you might try eating some Tums to see if it helps. If it does help, then you probably have some reflux and esophagitis. If it doesn't help, no harm done, it's a little extra Calcium.< /p>

Thanks everyone for the feedback...I think it might not be stuck. I am not sure what is going on but I know my chest hurts like bad acid reflux. It hurts even if I turn too fast. I have also got about 20 mouth ulcers under my tongue. That just started yesterday. It might be from all the acid in the pbing. Not sure but you can bet I will get to the bottom of it tomorrow. Thanks again everyone and I will give an upadate so just in case it ever happens. 9 months in and this is the first problem I have had.

As some if the others have said you probably have irritation. I've also been told if I get stuck to try coke as the bubbles should make you burp and dislodge the stuck food, I've never had to try it as eventually it just comes out on its own like a projectile vomit, ewww lol and it hurts.

Maybe get your Vitamin levels checked out. When my son or husband are run down or low on Vitamin b's they suffer from those painful ulcers.

I can't even begin to imagine how painful your mouth must be ATM, I hope you get back in track quickly.

Wooohooooo ... I went to the Dr. yesterday and he took out some saline and told me I did not have anything stuck. He said the band was just too tight. I feel much better today. On a more positive note I had lost 4 lbs in 7 days. I am only 13 lbs away from my goal. I gave myself 1 year to lose 80 lbs and I am 9 months in with 13 more. I know I will make it. I have gone from a size 20 to a size 12.

My sister is getting banded on Oct 30th. So excited for her...

In my fifties and havin a ball

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
