So I am almost 3 weeks post op and I am struggling with getting my Protein in. I'm allowed to progress to mushies but the thought of eating makes me sick.. I've tried mushies and can eat them I just don't want to.. I have no appetite what so ever. For protein i try to get at least one shake in and I try to drink a lot of Water. Is this normal?

I'm 2 weeks post op and have no appetite as well. I eat 3 meals even though I'm not hungry. You need to eat and to get more Protein in. I'm in the mushies phase too I eat plain fage greek yogurt, 1% whipped cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, and tilapia.

Yeah it can be. Try chicken Soup flavor powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. Even if u sip it all day u'll at least get ur protein in!

I'm 3 yrs post op and I can tell you - I was starving at 3 weeks out! I was still on liquids and thought I might die of starvation! But from what I read, about 1/2 of the people here are starving, the other 1/2 don't have an appetite at all. So I think you're perfectly normal. My appetite came back fierce after the first week. Everytime I would go to Albertsons to stock up on Tomato Soup (about 3x a week), I would smell the deli fried chicken and almost die!

So, take your lack of appetite as a gift! Enjoy it while it lasts!

This is right on point! What a gift it is to NOT be hungry! I feel so desensitized to food!

I had no appetite either till just after three weeks. I was able to progress to mushies by second week, I'd prepare it then leave it. Keep your fluids up, that's important so you don't dehydrate. You'll eventually start to want solids, you're still healing and swollen now. Only eat when hungry otherwise you can make yourself sick, I tired to do that.

Agree, don't force yourself to eat. Drink as much as you can and only eat when hungry. Your body is in a healing stage now so liquids are good. You will want food soon enough! Be thankful. I have been one of the lucky ones too. I still do not get hungry. I eat 2 times a day and drink all day now, still. Remember, everyone is different.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
