Complications

I'm so tired of never knowing what foods I can eat...puking up stuff. This is no way to exist. Ready to just throw in the towel and be done, just get this thing out of me!

It sounds to me like you're band is either too tight or has slipped. You're right, that is no way to leave and you shouldn't be puking ever.

I would see your surgeon, tell him exactly how your feeling. Have him check your band placement and take a little Fluid out so you can eat normally.

Best wishes to you.

See your doctor and please discuss this with him/her.

I agree with Mis & Roja. You should not be puking all the time. If you're eating correctly, small bites & chewing till mush, you should not puke at all.

Talk with your Dr and see what the problem is.

Best wishes!

I had a complete unfill in June. Scar tissue has formed around my stomach under the band causing me to be tight. The band is coming out, but have to go thru the process for insurance and that takes time. Just over it.

I'm curious as to what caused the scar tissue? Dr. error ?

No, it's happens with all surgeries. The band itself is the problem. The stomach is a muscle and churns against the band, it's believed that this phenomenon causes scar tissue to form under the band around the stomach, which apparently is an unforeseen result. I'm getting tighter though I have no fill in my band.

I ended up emptying my band and then after months of testing having my gallbladder removed. Be sure they investigate, my band DE did not so I went to the GI doc.

What's DE? My gallbladder came out last year. The Esophogram shows that I have just a tiny trickle of barium flowing through the empty band.

Sorry meant DR! Silly typo... Have you gotten unfilled at all lately? I went through fills unfills for about 6 mos, thus was to try to get the irritation to go away but eventually after that didn't work I had to get another opinion. That's when I saw the GI. Good luck to you I hope you get answers!

Sorry you are struggling, that unfortunately is an unforeseen issue and there are complications for some people. It happened to a friend I work with after 3 years and I know Jean who wrote, Band Wagon also had to have hers removed. We wish you success and hope the remove it quickly, no one should have to struggle like this.

Before you decide to have the band removed I'd ask your DR for a GI referral. They should check your gallbladder and maybe your esophageal motility. For some of us motility is an issue. Could be so many things hope they get you feeling better soon!

I had a port flip because of scar tissue. Never heard of this until it happened to me. Now I hear it's very common but most at 45°-90° angle which has no need for correction. But mine flipped 180°. Found out at my first fill. Today was my corrective surgery. Dr went in, repositioned and re anchored it. Still never had a fill. Was given 1cc just to facilitate the procedure. Still on full food with zero restriction. If I could I would switch to a sleeve. For now I've just gotta find a way to make it work. Next appointment is 11/19/12, over 10 weeks post op. :-\

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
