Insurance Approval

Recommended Posts

So as I've been going through all my appointments it's been concluded that I have no co-morbidities to go along with my high BMI. Normal blood pressure, good cholesterol, I am able to excersize and no sleep apnea. All in all this is good health wise. BUT I am so nervous my insurance wont approve bc of this. my BMI is 45 which is very high.

did anyone have trouble getting approved with no co-morbidities? My dr says I should be approved because of the bmi alone but as we've all probably found out along the way, nothing is guaranteed.

That's good to hear! What type of insurance? I have Cigna. Dr will submit my paperwork after my last appointment on the 15th.

I also have cigna with no co-morbidilies. I don't have high blood pressure or diabetes but my BMI is 55.4. Today was my one on one with my nutristionist and I asked him if I would have a hard time getting approved. He said no because my BMI is extremely high and im 100 pounds over weight.

Hi everyone! I am going to my initial dr appointment with my doctor on Friday. How long was the process for you from start to op day? I also have Cigna and am nervous about approval though. I was a college athlete until 2005 and then I had reconstructive knee surgery and ankle surgery after injuries from my sport. My BMI is now 41, and I hope the lap band is an option for me.

With Cigna it's taken me about 3 months with my final appointment on October 15. Cigna likes to see a three month waiting period according to my doctor and the woman at his office that deals with insurance.

So far I've had my initial appointment, an upper GI test, an appointment with the nutritionist (today is my second appointment with her), an appointment with a pulmonologist to discuss apnea, an appointment with my surgeons APRN, a sleep study and a psych appointment.

It's taken me about 2.5 months to do all those appointments and they are going to submit my paperwork to insurance after my appointment I the 15th.

It's been a lot but I know it'll be worth it! Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
