No Fill Yet - Over Eating At Meal Times

I was banded on Aug. 23 so this week makes 5 weeks post op. I'm on soft foods (not mushies) and can try to reincorporate foods back into my diet. I don't have a fill yet (go on Oct. 8) and am able to eat pretty much anything. Which leads to overeating. I still don't eat NEARLY as much as I did pre-band but I know I'm not doing how I should. I'm worried about stretching my pouch. Food just tastes good and I keep eating. Then I get a stabbing pain in my chest through to my back and my stomach hurts. I don't do it at every meal.

Because of no restriction, I'm still eating big bites and eating fast.

Any advice or suggestions? I don't want to fail at this.

tbutler,

I know if you work for the Federal Government, their BCBS will pay for it.

I work for the state unfortunately lol

Missy,

Glad to here you are back on track. I think we all loose focus on portion sizes sometimes, I know I do. I just got a fill and an eye opening yesterday. I gained 3 lbs in a 2 week period. I had been eye balling my portions.... My eyes aren't that good at portion control. So today I got the scales and measuring cups back out. And last night I re-read my doctors diet instructions to refresh myself. I have been doing this 7 months now and I needed a refresher.

So, regroup. Onwards & upwards my friend. Take care.

Me too. Do you know about the study at Pennington?

No I didn't know about the study what is it about?

Measuring my food and counting calories was my contribution to helping my band give me the maximum benefit and it worked. I truly belief if you don't do that you won't have the results you desire. Best of luck to you...
