  1. I go for my first fill in less than 2 hours from now and I'm really nervous. I am afraid it will hurt and I'm afraid she wont be able to find my port. I guess I need to have faith in my surgeon and PA and quit the worrying but it's human nature. Guess I'll let you all know how it goes later. Wish me luck.....

    First Fill Today = Nervous

Just got back from the fill. Lost 2 more pounds so at least I didn't gain! Got 2cc's in my band and she's pleased with my progress . Wasn't bad at all. Don't know why I got myself so worked up.
  3. I was banded on Aug. 23 so this week makes 5 weeks post op. I'm on soft foods (not mushies) and can try to reincorporate foods back into my diet. I don't have a fill yet (go on Oct. 8) and am able to eat pretty much anything. Which leads to overeating. I still don't eat NEARLY as much as I did pre-band but I know I'm not doing how I should. I'm worried about stretching my pouch. Food just tastes good and I keep eating. Then I get a stabbing pain in my chest through to my back and my stomach hurts. I don't do it at every meal. Because of no restriction, I'm still eating big bites and eating fast. Any advice or suggestions? I don't want to fail at this.
  4. Thanks everyone. I'm not eating the wrong things (have only like twice) but too much of the good things. I will start measuring. I did really well on post op diet (directly after surgery) but once allowed to move to solids/soft foods, it's been really hard. I did just call my surgeon and they up'd my fill to this coming Monday instead of the following like I originally been scheduled for. Also, they suggested everything you all stated here, smaller plates, portion control, Protein first. I will start back today better. Eating yogurt now. They did say that while they prefer me only eating 3 meals a day, if I am just really hungry, TRUE hunger, I can have a snack that is protein based, so I wont overeat at my meal.
  5. So I go on Oct. 8 for my first fill. I was banded Aug. 23 and lost 11lbs prior to surgery and 13lbs, the two weeks between surgery and my 2 week follow up. I'm wondering what the fill feels like? Does it hurt when they do it? How do they find your port? What if they can't find it? Full of questions..... Please any info would be appreciated.
  6. Happened to me also. I dont scratch them just rub them.

    Regret?

Oh I had the exact same feeling. Im 13 days post op and im still experiencinf little tweeks of oain and im starving but tomorrow i am supposed to be upgraded to mushy foods so hopefully things will fet better for me. I was sore and sickly for about 4 days or so. It will get better. Hang in there!
  10. I was having the same problem. Pre-op I bought lots of Unjury because I liked it - all flavors. Now 13 days post op I was having trouble gagging them down. Today I used Unjury chocolate splendor w/ 8 oz skim milk (added protein) and a squirt of sugar free Hershey's syrup and some ice. I blended it all and am able to drink it. They chocolate syrup helped ALOT. It was expensive at my store ($4.07) but if it helps get the protein down, I'll pay it. And since I only used a squirt it should last a while. I used all the chocolate protein powder today but still have vanilla and strawberry that I might add a squirt to also and try it. Keep trying to get it in, I'm preaching to myself here, but we def need the protein. Good luck:)
  11. Well, as the title says, I started my period over the weekend. Sorry if it's TMI but it's facts. I have absolutely NO energy and I am 12 days post op. I am so sick of protein shakes, soup, sf jello and sf popsicles I could scream! I go to Dr. on Friday for my 2 week post op and i'm supposed to get moved to mushies then. Surely that will help! Wont it? I'm really having second thoughts on what I have done to myself. I want FOOD so bad! I am not a good one to go without food while on my period at all. Any one have any suggestions or even words of encouragement? A lady down the hall who knows about the surgery said I look like I'm melting cause I've lost weight. I don't know how much because I don't have a scale at home but I hope she's saying that being true and not just trying to perk my mood. Hate this:( Just want to whine and cry but i can't because I did this to myself.

    Port Pain

So im 10 days post op and had been feeling decent. Today i was getting up off the couch and felt excruciating pain at port site and it felt like it popped or something. Now im really sore. What could have happened? Did my port flip or detatch? Please pray neither of those happened.

    Nauseous

I am still on liquids so they wont let me have yogurt. I dont think im hungry at least it doesnt feel like it. I feel better now not as nauseous but now my port is bothering me and last night ibwas picking stuff up off the floor and dont know if that has anything to do with any of this.
  17. ......am I sore I was banded on Aug. 23 so I'm 6 days out and I thought since I just have a desk job I wouldn't have any problems but was I wrong. I guess all the up and down and sitting in my chair vs. relaxing/reclining has made my surgery area SORE. Not the stitches but my inside muscles. Haven't had pain pills for about 2-3 days now but I think tonight before bed I might have to take one. Coming back to work might have actually been good for me because it has forced me to do more than being at home laid up afraid I'll do too much! I've only had a couple (right after and a day after surgery) of "Oh my gosh, what have I done to myself" moments so that's good. Still trying to get Protein in. I'm working on my second 20grms now. Not easy, let me tell ya! Not easy for me with the Water either. But I'll keep trying. Now that I've tackled my first day back to work, SURELY the 2nd day wont be so bad. Will it ? Love this site, it has so much information and people are so helpful and nice. Ohh and the air/gas seems to be MUCH better today. Still feel it, but not like before so for that I'm thankful
  18. I've read other surgery day stories and now can finally post one of my own . Aug. 23 - had to be at surgery center at 7a.m. I get there and I'm the only patient there at that time (I think the whole day actually - never saw or heard another one) and I get undressed and put on the pretty gown (NOT) and the slippers. Lay on the bed and my nurse, Monica, comes in. She's super nice, as we've met before. She was my nurse when I went there back in January to have a cyst removed. We talk about our kids and what not and then before I know it the Anesthesiologist comes in and tells me what to expect. He's super nice. I make sure they know about my PVC's (Pre-ventricular contractions) and also ask if they will give me some Versed (they will, thank goodness). Nurse Monica has gotten my IV in and starts whatever antibiotics draining. Then she tells me about the shot in my stomach and I kinda start getting nervous, but she gives me the shot and next thing they come put the Versed in my IV and I tell my hubby by and away I go. I get in the OR and I make idle chit chat w/ all in there and I'm sure I sound like an idiot due to the versed. LOL But oh well. Next thing I know I'm waking up in recovery. I don't even remember them telling me to count or anything. Once in recovery I hear this distinctive voice of my recovery nurse and right away I know who it is. It's the nurse that I used to work with at a juvenile facilty!!! I was relieved to hear a familar voice. I don't remember much other than her asking me about my pain, telling me she would give me more meds, and then telling me she liked my new hair cut/color. LOL Unless I imagined that. They take me back to my room and there is nice Nurse Monica and my hubby  . So glad to reach over and he grab my hand. I feel icky and groggy but no pain in incisions. But pain from the air they inflate you with. I knew to expect that from all I had read on here but MAN I didn't know how bad it would be After eating some ice chips and Nurse Monica helping me get dressed, it was time to go home. I told her I felt naseous so they gave me some pill and it dissolved on my tongue and was fruity tasting. They wheeled me to my car and off to my house I went. Got in bed and that's where I stayed that first day. I think we were home by 1pm or so. All in all, it wasn't bad. I will admit to a couple of, "What did I do to myself" moments but they are pretty much gone now that I'm 1 week post op. Looking forward to a healthier, new me!
  19. Ok so i had surgery on aug 23 so im only 3 days post op but im already sick of the liquod post op diet. Im on full liquids and while i am not hungry one bit im trying to get fluids in. Im drinking water and water with crystal light, have beef broth and chicken broth, skim milk with protein added and sf jello and sf popsicles. I am not doing well on protein. Is there ANYTHING else i can have or do. Liquids are pretty limited cause i dont know what else to do. Suggestions?
  20. Yeah im not using a straw they just said that as a reference. I know i cant use a straw.
  21. I finally went to the store ans got some tomato soup and it tasted SO good. Got different soups instead of broths ans now hopefully i can get thru til i get moves to mushies which sould be sept 7. Also drank some skim milk without protein and it tasted yummy too. I did fine on the protein pre surgery but juat cant seem to gwt it down post surgery.
  22. Im not hungry but know i need to get protien and fluids in. Thats my only concern. I have to call dr in the morning to schedule my 2 week appt to get stitches removed and will be asking more questions regarding what i can have. They said if u xan drinknit thruba straw u can have it. Well i can drink a lot of things thru a straw so im asking about sf pudding and oatmeal and stuff like that.
  23. So i had surgery on aug 23 and today my church put on an outdoor music festival and i went ans even though i sat most of the time and only walked a little i am exhausted and sore. I probably shouldnt have stayed the whole 5 hours. Just took pain meds and about to go to bed. Guess im not as young as i used to be. It did feel wonderful to tae a shower today thoufh.
