Hi everyone! I am so grateful to have found this website. I am two days post-op and have been experiencing a lot of side effects. I guess my main frustration was lack of communication between myself and the surgeon. After leaving several messages he finally got back to me and explained everything I was experiencing was normal. But surprise, neglected to tell me he removed a hernia and I have stitches in my breathing canal (lack of better word) which explains why I cannot take deep breaths or lay flat to sleep. Everything else - nausea, dry heaves, bruises, shoulder and neck pain are all normal. Still doesn't make it better though.

I moved off of Clear liquids today and my stomach is doing flipflops. I guess with time all things will adjust.

Well, about me now - my name is Melissa and I am single and 36. I live and work in Washington, DC. Finally decided after 24 years of being overweight to do the Lap Band. Like everyone else I think I tried a lot of diets and none seem to work. I am looking foward to the rest of my life.

welcome It will get better, I had mine on May 24th and I am down about 30lbs . I waited way to long to have the surgery I am 64 ( better late than never) so it is very smart to start younger. I wish you God Bless in your journey. :)

Welcome to you! You are in the tough part now. I am two weeks post op today and feeling very good... weirdist thing is feeling the port under my skin but other than that I feel great. The only time it hurts now is if my little one bumps me directly on it but otherwise I am pretty back to normal. I go to the dr. tomorrow for my post op appointment and am anxious to get on the scale... i haven't done it since I have been home! I also had a hernia repair that I didn't know about at all, found out from my husband after! It will get better, will be a few tough days but then you will be good to go and start your journey. Stay strong and best wishes to you!

I had my surgery a couple of years ago. I lost alot of weight and was doing well. My son got real sick and later passed away. I suffered from depression for years without realizing it. That's when everything went down hill for me. But luckily someone finally noticed and I got the help I needed. I'm happy to say im off the depression medication and back to my smiling self. Now, I have to get back on track with my diet, exercise, and losing weight. It hasn't been easy. But im trying. I live in DC. Im looking for support. A buddy on a constant basis. We can help each other. Im thinking that may be the way to go for me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
