Pb'ing After 3Rd Fill

Recommended Posts

Had my 3rd fill this last Friday. The first few days I had quite a bit of pb'ing and stuck issues. I thought "great, maybe I'm too tight". Liquids go down easily. Today when I ate lunch I had chicken and broccoli. No pb'ing. The trick....I ate slower and stopped in between bites. Ive always been a fast eater so that's been the hardest for me to stop. I guess I was still eating way too fast with the band. My total meal was 3 oz, as I didn't want to overdo it. So far so good. I have realized that I have to learn how to eat all over again with a fill. Just wanted to share my experience in case anyone else is having the same issue.

Everybody is different as to when the feel the tightness of a fill but I know after every fill I would have to slow down when I ate and make it small portions until the swelling went down.

Wow! You've already realized how to eat slower and you're not very far into this process! I'm so excited for you! It took me 2 1/2 yrs and a slipped band to learn how to eat slower as to not PB. I was throwing up (PBing) about 2-5 times a week, because I was eating too fast. Learned that in Army basic training. If you didn't eat your meal in 5 minutes, you didn't eat. I'm so glad you learned this so early into your journey. Wish I had before my band slipped from throwing up.

Good luck to you!

Congrats to all of you on eating slow. I still struggle with that.

Don't forget to eat the bread/toast last. It swells and you may not have room. After I eat one egg, I can barely get half a piece of toast eaten (whole grain of course).

Keep up the good work!

I'm struggling with eating slow too. I've had several fills, but this last one nearly two weeks ago is kicking my butt! Seems like nothing much is wanting to stay down, and I'm PB'ing several times a day. I have started taking some liquid Motrin about 30 minutes before I eat and that seems to be helping.

Call your doctor you may be to full. You don't want to take a chance on having a slipped band. They may want to take out 1/2 cc. It is the best thing to do. Another thing to try is to drink plain hot/warm Water 15 min before you try to eat anything it will help relax the stomache muscle and sometimes food goes down easier. Good luck.

You're right, I'm feeling the same way myself. What is pb'ing?

I also an going through this. I hope and believe this mean we are in the green zone, now just need to learn to work with it.

No more naughty foods that will cause pb or eating fast... this is what they have been preparing us for all this time.

Best of luck everyone!!

I found that after a fill I felt btter if I only ate soft food s for a couple of days I did better. That gave my stomache time to settle down. It is training to learn to do this the best way that works for you.

God luk

I am going to get banded in 3 weeks. What is this PBing I hear everyone talking about? What are the foods you can absolutely no longer eat?

I've had two fills. Finally having some restriction. It's really a learning experience to eat slow and take small bites. I'm almost afraid to go for my third fill on the 25th. I don't want it to be a struggle to eat. I still don't get that full feeling very fast. I'm finally starting to lose a little more weight now and I'm happy about that.

I just had my surgery a week ago today. I was wondering what PBing is?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
