Yes hair loss is very common after lapband surgery

Biotin helps, but you need to take it consistently for a long time (some people say 6+ months)

I have not heard of Biotin chewables

Taking a Multivitamin once a day will also help (those come in chewable versions)

Make sure your getting adequate protein!! That will also help with Hair loss

I had a hard time with this as well. I started taking Biotin the pills are small so its not that bad. I also started using this miracle Shampoo and conditioner with a spray in stay in conditioner and it is amazing. It's called "It's a 10" expensive but it really works.

You can find sublingual (melts under tongue) Biotin at vit./health food stores (not GNC).

I started taking mega doses of biotin before I had surgery because hairloss was my biggest fear. I don't know if it helped or not because I still lost about 40% of my hair. Who knows, maybe I would have lost more if I had not taken the biotin. The good news is my hair grew back.

When I started loosing some hair I went to the dermatologist. He assured me i wouldn't go bald. He said your body goes into kind of a shock after rapid weight loss and that's why hair falls out. I never tried Biotin and a few months later I was back to normal. It started about 5 months postop and ended about 3 months later.

Some multi-vitamins chewables have some Biotin in them. It's a good idea to buy some biotin and take if you're seeing a large Hair loss.< /p>

I've lost 170 lbs and the nutritionist I saw told me that if I got 60 grams or more of Protein, that I wouldn't lose my hair and it worked. She said that our skin and hair is made of Protein. Although I have had to have a Tummy Tuck and breast lift, my skin looks great.

I had highlights. and everywhere it was blonde nearly broke in half. This was right at 100lbs. I got my hair darkened getting rid of the highlights that stopped the breakage. Dlb'd up on the Biotin and started using the It's a 10 product with heavy conditioning treatments took me almost 4 months to recover now my hair looks great.

I started getting very tiny thin little re-growth around 12 months. It wasn't all back and to the original length and thickness until about 2 years post op.

I tried everything including keeping my Protein intake high, Biotin, Nioxin vits., Nioxin shampoo/conditioner, even Rogain. I really do not think any of it helped. I think it depends on what type of hair you have also. Mine is thin, straight, and baby fine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
