My surgery was moved two days sooner to Tuesday the 28th and now I feel a little bit rushed.

I have questions for you all.

What are things you wish you got done before surgery? What are things you wished you brought to the hospital with you?

What are things you did to prepare for surgery?

I want to start a checklist.

It will be all good. Go liquid diet the week prior(protein shake-clear broth-sugar free popsicles) I had mine in a surgury centure it take about an 2 hour to do. Then they transported me to a Beverly Hills rceovcery center and it was fantastic. The waited on you hand and foot. The made walk around every 3 hours and kept checking all vitial sings. Just relax this is going to be the best deceision you have ever made bu having the procedure.

an over night bag with extra underwear, sock. toothbrush, hairbrush, cell phone charger, shaver. I also included a face towel, Water bottle and a plastic bag used for vomit on the travel trip home. Be prepared.

I didn't have to stay but the bag was packed in my drivers car just in case I did stay.

Best wishes

I've been told to bring a thermacare heating pad for my shoulders, for any possible gas pain that sometimes settles there, and plenty of gas-X strips! Good luck!

Don't forget to bring a Chapstick to the hospital with you...my lips were so dry. I was thankful I remembered to bring it!

My surgeon gave comprehensive instructions to me for the post op time, which I took great care to follow. I would advise you to get your post op prescriptions filled prior to your surgery if the surgeon has given them to you. I had everything at the house, and was prepared to manage my pain. I also stocked up on all of the post op groceries I would need...ingredients for Protein shakes, SF popsicles, SF Jello and especially important for me (due to salt cravings) plain chicken broth.

I also found that using a heating pad on low setting periodically was soothing to my abdomen, and using it did not interfere with my post op healing. Make certain to walk around your house for at least a few minutes every hour you are awake...it helps to resolve post op gas issues and lowers risks for development of DVT.

Best wishes as you begin your journey...

Your mouth will be dry. I packed sugar free Lifesavers to suck on. They gave me a little pillow to protect my tummy from the seat belt. I took my own pillow from home that I used instead.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
