Great job I cant wait until I hit a victory like you being in the top 5. I am still waiting for my letter, though I know I have been approved but I cannot schedule the surgery or even discuss the surgery until I get the letter, and still torn about when to have it. I want, want, want to do it right away, but a part of me wants to wait until spring when I can immerse myslef in it and have less stress due to my career. a good friend of mine said what if something happens to me between now and then what if my health becomes bad and that made me think, I need to do this sooner than spring. So still stuck, but glad to be here and reading all of your information and about your experinces really helps me alot. So waiting to be banded. :clap2::rolleyes:

I went to my final class yesterday it was my Pre-Op, now I just have 2 more appts. on the same day - one is with the anestesioligist and the other the final one with the surgeon both on November 1st. Then it's off to surgery on November 7th. I can't wait!!! I am so excited. I keep hearing everyone talking about low carb or no carb...but I have a question.

What am I not suppossed to eat as far as carbs go after surgery??? :help:

Hi April,

Congratulations. It won't be long now!

I personally eat green veggies, once I get the Protein down. Sometimes, I crave the veggies and have them first (weird to say I crave the veggies, but I do). I definatly eat a more carb conscious diet.

Good luck,

Mary

My progress has pleased me thus far and I keep discovering things that just blow my mind at times. One of my latest...

Usually I go to bed between 2 & 3 am and up at 9. Since last Thursday, I have been going to bed by 12 and getting up between 7 & 8. Since that time I have consistantly lost a minium of 1 lb each day (my losses have never been this consistant)...is there really a correlation between good sleep and weight loss? Well, my results say yes. I just wanted to share my latest observation. Just as I think I have learned so much...there is always someting new and exciting around the corner.

Happy banding,

MMT

MMT that is good news. I tend to stay up late, but I have to get up early for work.

Thanks for sharing this

MMT you were right, psych consult was no problem. She cleared me.

The Psychologist actually runs the Surgeons support group once a month. I plan to participate.

Still going strong on low carb.

I hate that the first place I notice weight lose is in my breasts. What the heck is that... oh well, at least it is noticeable.

I just bought myself some new bras. Decided to when my fill nurse commented on the fact that my bra was so loose that I didnt have any kind of mark where the band goes and the fact that I had been hooking them on the 3rd set of hooks. I was wearing a 50DD and I am now wearing a 46DD, kinda tight but I know that wont last too long.

I am in my last "nice" bra in the correct size. The company that makes the bra I love stopped making it in 44F I can get it in only DD now it sucks I love this bra. I will be thrilled when I can get into a DD again...I have been a DD since high school only the last few years was I into F

Damn every time I lose weight my boobs were the same. When I gain weight my boobs get bigger *sigh* that sucks

Oh Cerrin,

I cannot even begin to imagine an F...I was a DD while nursing my girls and HOLY SMOKES...that's a lot of boob! But now the poor little dears are sad and pathetic and tickling my navel.

My hardest thing is the lack of fullness on the top compared with the bottom. They're soooo sad....poor little girls.

April, I've been cutting out as many carbs as humanly possible. It's actually been easier than I thought and I'm dropping weight pretty quickly. Best of luck to you!

Rainer

Well I wanted to let you all know I got approved by Cigna and they will cover 90% of my surgery! I was so discouraged when they denied me a few weeks ago but I am elated now! I don’t have a surgery date yet as I still have to have a chest x-ray and another psych eval by their chosen doctor. Thanks for all the support! WOO HOO!!

What a great surprise for you. Congrats! They must have a policy of denying all claims from the outset and then hope that people don't appeal.

I have a bra anecdote too. I only lived with my brothers and father and was too embarrassed to go by myself and get a bra. I finally got one after a bit of teasing and my first bra was a C-cup! We won't even talk about which way I thought the sticky part of the pad went when I got my period.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
