Are You Physically Able To Thow Up?

Recommended Posts

I got a fill last week and feel good restriction. I only have 4.8cc in a 10cc band and I'm on the edge of the green zone. Many people have much more restriction than I do and I was wondering what happens when you have to throw up? flu? I just had an episode of dry heaves for no food related reason, my family has been sick, but I did not throw anything up, even though I just had dinner. Is it possible for your lower stomach contents to come through the small band opening? Have you had the flu yet?

Vomiting is a bit of a problem cos it can cause a band slippage, but I've been doing it for a while, purging after everything I eat, it is really uncomfortable because the stomach just feels tighter. But I got told it can be dangerous if you vomit too much, every now and then can't be that bad.

I think it is possible for the contents to come up, but it's safer for it not to.

If you are intentionally purging after eating, you are exhibiting symptoms of a serious eating disorder, not to mention the possible harm you may do to your stomach and band.

It would be in your best interests to let your surgeon know what you have been doing, and seek professional help from a counselor who specializes in eating disorders.

I would recommend having anti-nausea meds on hand if you do get a flu or stomach virus. It's best to not throw up, as it can displace the band.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
