Can not get past the back and forth of having the surgery!! I actually feel GUILTY for wanting it and I am having such a hard time pushing past that guilt. I just want to be happy and healthy, is that to much to ask? I sware I am my own worst enemy! Anyone else deal with the guilt of wanting the surgery?

Yes and No. Some people think I am wanting the easy way out and this will be a quick fix But it really won't be. I'll still have to work hard at what I eat and exercise. This surgery is going to help us become healthy and happy. Nothing better then that. Don't care what others may think. Your making a good choice to better yourself. That's the way I look at it.

I don't understand what you would feel quilty about. Yes, some people think it's the "easy" way out and don't realize you still have to work for the weight loss. I did the surgery, not so much for the weight loss, as I have lost the weight in the past without it, but to avoid the gaining it back plus 20. I have lost 85 pounds and have about 20 more to go. If I had done this without the band, I know my weight would already be creeping back up due to my "celebration cupcakes"!!! Please stop worrying about what others think and do what is right for your own health and sanity.

I felt the same way for the past two years and finally I said enough with the mixed emotions and put my foot down. Although I am still in the preliminary stages (still awaiting insurance approval) I am not letting any guilt or emotions get in the way.

As I see it, I feel guilty that I let things go so far as they have... and I feel guilty that I have already wasted a few precious years of my kids life having to always sit on the sidelines out of breath.

What I will not feel guilty about it making a life-changing decision that will benefit my whole family.

GOOD LUCK! <HUGS>

I think society likes to say that it is the easy way out. Believe me, it is not. It's funny, the people who say it's an easy way out have not ever experience being overweight. I don't think we could ever make them understand.

We work hard for the weight we lose. The gastric band is not a miracle worker, it is a tool. It is a tool that you have to have surgery for but, nevertheless still a tool.

Don't commit to this until you can believe it. It's work but well worth every second!

What exactly are you guilty about? Are you paying out of pocket, thus taking money away from something your family needs right this minute. Because even if you are self pay you probably will pay just as much if not more over the course of your lifetime paying for weight related illnesses. If you need a hip replacement or pacemaker would they tell you to live without. Would you tell someone who needed drug or alcohol rehab to think themselves well? Of course not.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
