Ever Eat When You're Not Hungry, To Reach Protein Goal?

Recommended Posts

I am just curious if I'm the only one who does this?

I eat 3 mostly Protein meals a day (3/4cup-1cup), plus 1 or 2 glasses of skim milk a day (my doctor's recommendation). Lately I STILL have to have 1 high protein snack a couple hours after dinner just to reach my 70g protein goal.

i know as bandsters we are supposed to be very aware of our hunger and not eat just for the sake of it, but I need to have a snack in the evening to get enough protein in (protein shakes make me ill so I go for greek yogurt), and then I feel guilty. Am I crazy? lol

I wouldn't eat when you're not hungry. I know it's hard to get the Protein in some days, but it would be better to be a little under on Protein than to eat and have calories unnecessarily

Maybe get some of the unflavored Protein powder to mix in with other meals throughout the day? So you get your protein in without over-eating?

.. i know that there are different opinions from various drs and different countries as well. when i was banded, and, by the way, im australian.... i wasnt given any real direction about how much protein i should have. i had one appointment with a dietician and that was a broad discussion over every food group, not a lot of time spent on protein. so... i had Protein drinks through the day... i had beef broth, etc etc. this was mainly my eating plan. im having more protein than other foods even now... over three months out . i love my egg and bacon.. i have beef hamburger on a plate with fresh from the garden dill... i have chicken... all the meats, and a small amount of veges on the side. ive never worried much at all about the amount of protein i needed... i just went and did that. ive been on Atkins diet many times in years gone by so i know some basics. im having a liquid Vitamin at the moment ... plus barley green, which is like spirolena. my intake is quite healthy. im not counting anything at all. Im having what i want to eat... what i feel i need. its been easy for me.

Ok thank you for the input ladies. I do have some Protein Powder but rarely use it... Guess I'll start by putting a little in my Breakfast. I never overdo it with my portions especially with my Protein snack, but I don't wanna get in the habit of eating mindlessly, so I gotta get myself in check. I am also going to discuss this with the doctor at my next fill. I guess I'd rather be under my protein goal than eating when I'm not hungry..

I haven't paid attention to Protein at all!! But I'm only on week 2, still 1 more week of mushies to go. The most I do is, if I think "hmm I haven't had any protein", then I have a Protein Shake. Looking forward to solids for more options!

Really try to get your 60 grams of Protein in. It will keep you from losing your hair and keep your skins elasticity. I'm 2 1/2 years out and have lost 170 lbs and didn't lose any hair and my skin is great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
