It sounds like you were stuck. Drink some warm fluids to soothe your stomach because it is probably swollen now but it's okay though it's happened to all of us! Good luck!

it sounds like you have had a stuck episode. its not a nice experience. did you bring anything up? Im having problems after my second fill... which was only 1cc. i had 3 ccs already in a 10 cc band. when iwent back just over two weeks ago for my 1cc fill i was still losing weight but slow. (the way i want it anyway). the dr was pleased, but decided to put that extra 1 cc in. Well.. that was over two weeks ago, and im still having a lot of problems. For two nights runny Ive slimed and vomited... and ive had real issues trying to eat. it takes me over an hour to get a small amount in. so.. this morning i rang my dr and tomorrow morning i go in for an unfill... hopefully only 0.50 cc. The first fill i had it took me about ten days to get settled again, thats why ive waited so long this time.

If you are sore in the chest or sore when you eat.... can you give it a rest by just having some liquids for a day? i know that sometimes that does help a lot.

don't mean to sound dumb but I get my first fill next week and you guys are freaking me out about getting stuck and what in the heck is slime? ew! About 9 days after surgery, June 13th about bedtime I got nauseated and ended up dry heaving because there was nothingin my upper stomach to throw up, it was so intense it made my nose bleed and my stomach was so sore the next day. Don't want to go thru that again, not fun.

now... it certainly isnt fun at all.

i wonder if you have had a stomach flu?? jut a touch?

o.k.... sliming.. well, as far as i know so far, when the pouch is having difficulties with what we have just eaten, (and it happens quickly after we do this..about five minutes for me.)... it gets a bit painful. when it happens to me, i get the acute discomfort... i feel the food moving in the pouch,( i feel it churning..) i seem to salivate a lot... ive noticed now that i start to sneeze. i guess thats just me though... dont quote me on this. lol.

Eventually i have to put my head over a bowl and the ''slime' comes up. its like vomiting but its not as acute.

its a softer reaction and more spontaneous somehow... still not nice though. it seems that when the pouch is having difficulty coping with food there is slime produced( to help the food pass, is my guess) which ,most times, if there is enough of it... just comes up.

ive had a few episodes now but never more than once vomited back up any food. i find that when im goign through a stuck episode that the pain is uncomfortable, the extra saliva in my mouth tells me then that i need to bring up some slime.I salivate a lot. Usually when it happens to me i know whats coming and just get a towel until i go to the loo or the basin)

Its one of those things that we just have to accept... it may happen to us anytime. i think thats why the lesson of ...

..''small ( and i mean sometimes the size of your little finger nail) mouthfuls.. chew many many times, swallow and wait for at least 20/30 seconds for the food to pass into the pouch from the aesophagus.

If you are consistent with doing this... it wont happen to you.

ive had periods when ive cooked roasts, been carving the meat and just plain forgotten that i had the band in. ive taken a mouthful... and BANG !! off i go.. lol.. and i suffer the consequences.

other times Ive just been too hungry and eaten too quickly...BANG !! again. lol.

WAtch these times if you are the cook for the family and if you allow yourself to get too hungry.

Im sure it will all go well with you.....one day at a time... you will learn very quickly i know. we have, all. lol.

I certainly do not take as small of bites as I should right now since I do not have restriction in there but I do chew chew chew. I understand what slime is now, thanks. I will watch out for that. I'm really nervous about my first fill next Thurs. What to expect with the needle, what foods I will be able to eat etc. I'm getting tire of cottage cheese and Tilapia everyday. If anyone has any suggestions on foods/diet for me please chime in as I can't survive on the same thing day after day and succeed. I know we all differ in what we can tolerate in what we can eat but it's just me, no kids, divorced and I find it hard to cook for just me but am doing so. I found Gordon's grilled Tilapia frozen that I bake that is good and today I bought some Cod at Publix. I love fish but it's beginning to get old day after day after day. Today I ate out at Red Lobster and split a meal with my mom and had about 2 1/2 oz of grilled Salmon, it was yummy. Open for suggestions. And thanks for clearing the slime situation up.

Slime is the consistency of egg white for me and once I start sliming I now head for the bathroom wherever I am I . After I have thrown this up and mine usually needs a little help it doesn't slide out like some folks. After a stuck incident with pain from several throw ups to get whats stuck out. I have been told to go on liquids for the rest of the day and use childrens liquid benadryl to soothe my esphogas, my Dr says you always have Benadryl around.

Not trying to scare you but when you are sliming its your body saying okay hold on. to big of bite..not chewed.. or I"m not able to pass that through this band . Sometimes it just happoens and the faster you deal with it the better you can go on .

I had my first real stuck episode yesterday. I had had a few pb but never really stuck. I dont want to do that again. I totally agree the slim is like egg whites. Never thought of having that before. I was sorta sore afterwards and was scared i did something to my band. I am glad i found this post this morning and learned that is normal.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
