Started this journey about 3 months ago, and have been super excited to get banded! I start my preop diet tomorrow, and I'm so nervous now! I'm scared of how different life will actually be. Did anyone else get an overwhelming feeling before surgery, like if your making the right decision? I know I want this, but feeling a little overwhelmed :/

I'll quote my surgeon when he asked how I felt about my upcoming surgery. I told him I was nervous & anxious...he said there would be something wrong with you if you didn't have a healthy case of nervous. You are about to embarking on a new phase/life journey and its an all or nothing committment! It's ok to be scared. You are about to severe your damaged relationship with food for good & in a few months you will be glad you did!

It is quite normal to have reservations or doubt. I wasn't so much nervous for me as I was nervous for my family should something happen. From the day I first started researching the band to the day of surgery I kept asking myself "am I doing the right thing? Should I have had bypass". In the end I am glad I made the decision and stuck with it. I would do this over in a heartbeat.

Try not to be nervous about how different life will be. Get excited about how you'll feel and what you will be able to do once you hit goal. Think about the things you look forward to the most.

Good Luck and know you are not alone. We all go through the what ifs....even us guys even though we may not always admit it.

I am surprisingly not nervous....sometimes I think, what am I going to do when I get a super craving for something I can't have??...and then I think to myself....I can always have a bite. One day. I can live with that...if I want more than that I will just have to accept being fat forever...and that is the last thing I want.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
