I want to get a tattoo with a friend of mine but I am only waiting to get insurance approval for my surgery. Does anyone know if i should put off getting the tattoo for any reason!

I guess it depends on the location. You skin will shrink, so you tattoo might change a little bit. If I were you I would wait.

If your tattoo heals ok then it might be ok to go ahead with surgery, u have to consider tho that there is a chance of infection which could delay your surgery u have to consider is it worth the risk. The other thing to consider is that if u are overweight any tattoo wherever it is may change its shape/design if your weight drastically changes ..

Decision is yours tho :)

As far as the ink going in skin being an issue for surgery, it shouldn't be at all. I have 7 tattoos and they didn't even ask about it.

TXGirl has it right though, if you plan on putting in a place that can grow or shrink, plan on some changes. My aunt used to joke that when she was 18 she got a rose tattoo on her hip, and as she's gotten older it's turned into a whole rose bush!

I really like the one you have, Carolina Girl.

I married into a family and was a "tattoo virgin", so the one I got was my husband's name on my ankle or exactly the reasons mentioned.

I didn't imagine I would lose or gain too much on my ankle.

Congrats on the tat...watch out they are addictive. I started with a smaller one and they just keep getting bigger every time I go for a new one. This is my most recent.

Agree with everyone else here. Depends on where you are getting it. As Sombra said (and I love your tatt by the way!) they are addictive lol. I have 2 now, the second twice the size of the first and I have a few more already planned. Anywhere you aren't going to change shape a whole lot should be fine (Shoulder, back, ankle etc.). Good luck!

for my 50th birthday i would like to have an anklet tattoo with 2 hearts dangling with my daughter and granddaughter's name inside the hearts. I don't have any tattoo's this would be my first. I heard from others that is a delicate area and hurts

Hi - I have an ankle tattoo and to be honest, I didn't think it hurt very much. Kinda tickled.

Puppypaws, ohhhh this is very good to know. I could have done it but I was always afraid of having a tattoo. I have pretty small ankles considering my large size, probably why I am always falling all over the place, LOLOLOL I think it would be a nice birthday present to myself :)

If its above the ankle bone on the fleshier area it shouldn't be too bad. If its lower down towards the bone or on the top of the foot it can be very sore. Generally, the fleshier the area, the less the pain. Its worth it (for me anyway). The worst part I find is the outline, after that the rest is a walk in the park. A great forever gift to yourself :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
