When Do Sani Strips Come Off

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know when the sani strips are supposed to fall off the incisions? I could have sworn the nurse said they would fall off in 7-14 days. It's been 10 days now and they seem like they're still really glued onto my body lol.

They will fall off eventually, they dont normally fall off in one go tho, they sort of curl at the edges and gradually come off as u shower each day. U can cut the loose bit off to save it catching on anything .. but sometimes they just dont budge till they are ready to :)

I think I was about 2 weeks. I just trimmed them up after showers and stuff. I am one of those people who refuse to pick at them.

Oops, I pulled mine of on day 7...oh well! I saw the doctor on day 8 and he didn't even mention it was a problem - and he was looking at my scars and saying that they looked fine. I'm not encouraging anyone to pull them off. Definitely follow doctor's orders.

My doctor told me to pull them off when they started to curl. The first two I pulled at 10 days post op and the last few at 14 days. All the incisions were closed and healing at that point.

Your skin actually comes together within about 72 hours or so. So if it's been a few weeks and they are still on, you can peel them off in the shower. Especially with small, laparoscopic incisions, the skin is together. I had the dermabond glue... now that was annoying.

My doctor said to take them off day 7 but not to pull at them if they are stuck. Mine came off easily, the worst part was pulling it off the little hairs/peach fuzz on my my belly!

My MD wouldn't let me go back in the pool to exercise until the strips came loose. But at 10 days postop he still wouldn't release me. The incisions look great so I guess it was good to wait

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
