I'm 2 days post op and took my daily pills this morning. One is small, so I wasn't worried about that one. The other one is a little bigger (It is a 100mg Pristiq XR), it can't be cut because it is extended release. Its about a 1/2 inch square. I took it about an hour ago and it feels like I've got a huge rock right behind my sternum. I've been following the post-op clear liquid diet religiously and haven't felt anything like this! It's horrible! I'm afraid it's stuck. Will it go down eventually? I thought that things didn't usually get stuck for long periods of time... They either went down or came up. Do I need to contact my Dr's office?

Dear TraGee,

Just happened to glance at my iPhone and saw your post. I was told that I couldn't take any pills/meds after being banded. The surgeon asked me to get my pharmacist to convert most meds into liquid form and those that weren't available via liquid the pills needed to be smashed and crushed. Suggestion was to cover its bitterness via diet cranberry juice. I was supposed to have surgery yesterday but I was canceled while in my surgical gown due to my surgeon being late and scheduling. I have fretted over the issue you are referring to, but the upside of shocking/sudden delay is that I can try to find a Compound Pharmacist to convert my meds into liquid and or creams. Hopefully you have access to a Compound Pharmacist. If not, make sure you smash your meds into powder and put in something pleasant to drink. Hope this helps :)

I also take a pill that can not be crushed. It is my allergy pill. It is alittle bigger than a pea. My dr told me to wait a week before continuing the pill. For me i can do that since it is not a super major pill that wohld have serious affects. I would just keep drinking and hope it goes down.

Thank all of you for your advice! I took a nap with my head elevated and felt much better when I woke up. I'm going to wait to take any more of my meds til after I go to the clinic tomorrow.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
