Found out something weird this week...

Recommended Posts

I am a month post op and have been having horrible pain. I was told I pulled something by doing to much and my pcp said I had a uti. 2 weeks later still same pain right where the port insission is through to my back. I insisted something was wrong and they did a sonogram of my belly at the hospital to check my kidneys. Well my kidneys aren't where they are supposed to be, they are connected (called a horseshoe kidney) and the left one is right under my port insision. It's not life threatening or anything, I have made it 35 years without knowing. BUT it explains why I had so much pain, they brusied the thing! I was feeling like such a pain wimp and wondering what on earth I did it for. Now that it is healed I can sit at a 90 degree angle and not hurt at all. Just wanted to share, if you KNOW something is not right push for answers.

It is really more common than you know. I had a former co-worker with the same condition.

I am glad you were able to get to the bottom of the mystery pain! You are not a wimp, pain or otherwise. You voluntarily had this procedure done, and I am doing it too...so we all know it takes courage to do that!!

Holy shmoley! I agree with you on pushing when one feels something just isn't right! THere is a show on Discovery Health... it's call (I think) Diagnosis Unknown... it's a great wake up call for how some physicians either ignore or dismiss a patients concerns. Some of the patients suffer and begin to think they are crazy before a doctor finally listens and gets to the bottom of the problem.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
