Weight Loss Going To Head!

Recommended Posts

My Best Friend received the Gastric Bypass and loss alot of weight she struggled with herself for many years since we were in first grade! Now she is acting some what like a super model thinking that she is Gods gift to men!! She has this attitude like every man must eat out of her plate and its her way or no way!! Her behavior gets to me!! Is this normal?

I think it's pretty normal. Maybe she has the feeling she has to make up for lost time or something. Imagine feeling bad about yourself and fat all your life and then , BAM, weight is off and esteem is new! Be happy for your friend and tell her in a nice and understanding way if she goes over the top too much.

I dont know if its "normal" but its not all that uncommon. I know a friend of a friend, as well as my sis that both had bypass...both turned into very stuck up snobby you know whats. It was one of the key reasons i was so dead set against having weight loss surgery myself..i feared i would turn out the same way. However, with the LB it comes off slower so its not this sudden look in the mirror of "damn I look hotter than so and so" those with LB tend to have time to get use to the slow changes so in my opinion we are less likely to have the stuck up attitude.

I told my husband I want to gain more confidence, but if i EVER come across as snobby or cocky, PLEASE say something, because i dont want to be that person.

I think it's totally common. There's a fine line between feeling confident (good thing) and being cocky and stuck up (bad thing). I think you can be happy for your friend, but keep it real and tell her when she needs to take it down a notch. :)

I know someone who had a gastric bypass several years ago who did this. She had been overweight all her life, had a husband who loved her unconditionally, 2 beautiful little girls and a great life. She lost 150lbs and it was like she relived her teenage years all over again- she started dressing provocatively, hanging out in bars, sleeping with younger men, all of which eventually caused her to lose her marriage and her children. Her husband got full custody, although the oldest one stayed with mom from about age 16 on and followed many of her patterns. That girl is now in jail and I 100% believe this would not have occurred had she not acted like that after her bypass. Her husband told me that his lawyer brought up some statistical information during their divorce hearing and he said the the divorce rate for gastric bypass patients is 70%, as opposed to 50% for the general population.

my cousin's boss is like that, every guy she sees "wants her". I woulld say say it comes from the self doubt they have had all their lives and yes trying to catch up. i told hubby same thing, if I start acting like that, set me straight.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
