June 29 2011 and I have only lost 40lbs. I knew it would be slow but not this slow. However look at it this way we didnt get this weight over night so taking it off slow is for the best.

I plan to join a fitness center soon and hopefuly this will jump start my wt loss.

Good luck and keep going. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

That is 3-4 lbs per month. A bit less than what lap band says is average of 1-2 lbs per week. I lost an average of .75 per week when I was actively losing. I wished it were faster, but you know what? I got there. I didn't work overly hard to do it. I've maintained it for over 2 years. I developed eating habits I can live with forever.

Never before had I been able to lose weight in a primarily downward trend for such a prolonged period of time. I lost it over a 2 year period. Now I've easily kept it off with the help of my band. That would never have happened before.

Stick with it, you can do this!

Sept.31 here! I have been doin my fitness pal, tracking calories and logging, but still slow. Trying to stay positive. Not gonna lie and say I've been on point with my choices regularly, but definitely enough to lose weight.

roro37- how did you come up with the calories you need to count? I joined that site but not sure how to calculate b/c of having the band and now with rigorous exercise.

Abs~ mfp stops at 1200 cals. My band doc/nurse says my Cal intake should be 900 cals, 1000 max. So I just try to leave 200 cals at the end of the day.

I still go to my doc monthly for monitoring and fills. during my visit two months ago, I was told I had learned to eat around

band, which is supposedly rare. However, reading through this site, it appears relatively common. I tell the doc I feel like I am in the yellow...hungry between meals...slow weight loss...they still won't fill. Or make me feel like I am wrong.

Roro, fills won't help if you are "eating around th band". The band will never stop you from eating foods that dissolve in your mouth (candy, cake, crackers, cereal); or prevent you from eating so slowly that your pouch is emptying thus allowing you to keep eating.

Are you eating 3 oz solid Protein first and then low fat/cal veggies until full? You should also take no longer than 30 minutes to eat a meal.

Thanks! I think you hit the nail on the head. I talked to the nurse about eating around the band and for the most part I was eating correctly. what I failed to mention and consider was that although eating slowly, I am eating TOO slowly. So basically I am eating so slowly that I don't give myself time to get full! I just keep eating. I am working on the Proteins too. I have been told to lay off the Protein Shakes and work on solid proteins.

Someone was looking for a site to count how many calories they need a day? http://nutrition.about.com/od/changeyourdiet/a/calguide.htm

Banded 11/28/11: Lost 12 lbs first 3 weeks. Then I plateaued for 3.5 months. Had a consult with my nutritionist and a fill from my doc late March. I too was eating around my band, or I was making bad choices. My nutritionist sat down with me and we went through my meal choices and just by cutting out a couple of beers/wk, 4 latte's(never sugar), one slice of bread/day, Soups, and some other minor items, I was able to cut out 500 more calories per day. That's 3500 per week=1 lb. I still get a couple of beers or wine on the weekend and I'm only having 3 latte's a week now so I'm not totally depriving myself. I can live with this.

I also kicked up my exercise routine a notch.

I've steadily lost 12 lbs over the last 6 weeks. With just a few minor adjustments I made the band(tool) work for me. She(nutritionist) also pointed out some other foods I should be consuming that fill me and satiate my appetite. I know we're all different and I've been concentrating on finding those foods that fill and satiate me longer. I'm not quite to my green zone but I think one small fill and I could be there. Good luck.

I was banded August 2011, with only 2 fills, I have lost 70lbs. I usually don't count my calories, but I workout 5 and sometimes even 6 days a week. Usually I take 5 Zumba clases a week, I have plateau for the past 2 months so now on top of taking Zumba I'm now taking body pump and body step to see if that would make the scale move.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
