Depends on your Dr. My Doctor says no caffeine or alcohol at all during pre-op phase. Also NO CARBONATED beverages after ever... Reason is the carbonation expands your stomach and you can cause erosion and slippages. What a bout some mineral Water with a twist of lime? I know its hard when we are use to doing those things. We are going out to Celebrate a friends birthday and I am doing water with a twist of lime only. I might have a crystal light margarita flavored water before I leave the house but I need to give my all to the pre op diet. Best of luck and have fun!

Alcohol is big no-no so close to surgery. Not only is it a blood thinner, it adversely effects your liver. The whole reason surgeon put people on pre-op diets is to shrink the liver to make it easier to work around and less risk of accidentally injuring it.

Alcohol this close to surgery would be a big mistake.

you are so welcome. Thats what is great about this site we all are in similar situations. Good luck to you and post in and let us know how you are doing... their are also several groups like springers, may banders, and so on that you might want to add too. It helps me a lot to connect with people in the same phase as me.

wishing you lots of luck!

My surgery is scheduled for the Tuesday after Labor Day, yikes! I will NOT be drinking alcohol that weekend, but it will be hard since I have a two graduation parties to attend. I tell myself, I can get through it, it's only temporary. Life will get more back to normal down the road post-op. I hope, anyway. Good luck on Friday and hang in there. :D

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
