It makes me feel so much better, that I'm not the only one struggling with this. You all have some great suggestions that I've been trying to incorporate into my daily meal times.

Thanks so much!!

For 5 months' date=' I've struggled with eating too fast. Sometimes I'm awesome and eat really slowly and I feel great throughout my meal. However, sometimes I devour my food. Up until this last bandfill it didn't bother me at all to eat quickly, but this one I just can't eat quickly anymore. So, my question is - what are some tricks to reprogram myself to eat slower?

I appreciate your help!! <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

This takes a long time. We are changing the habits of a lifetime. The advice here is good: don't get too hungry, use a baby spoon (I even tried eating from the thin end of a spoon!) or chopsticks, put your utensil down between bites, chew thoroughly (one of the best lessons the band teaches) and avoid distractions while eating, which allows you to listen to your body. Overall, a lot of what I've been reading about mindful eating resonates to me. Good luck!

well I got the eating slow app, which made a huge difference the last few days at meals. I've also taken to putting my silverware down. Both of which have helped a ton.

Thank you so much!!

I was just banded on April 18th 2012 and these comments are helpful. I haven't even had my first fill and had a bad episode last night from eating too fast. Don't want to go through that again.

Eating fast is my problem too, especially at work. I get 30 min for lunch. However, it doesn't work out that way. By the time I heat my lunch, go the restroom, get ice and when I finally get to eating, I usually have 15-20 at most to eat. Don't get that much when someone comes in and wants to chat. I was told to follow the 0-30 rule with drinking. (nothing to drink until 30 minutes after your meal finishes).

This is something I really need to improve but it will not happen overnight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
