Pouch Dialation, Cant Find Sweet Spot

Recommended Posts

I've had my band over two years now. About 130 lbs down. I have not lost weight during year 2! I just got a fill on Wednesday, NP was hesitant as we have been playing around with the same Fluid level for a year now....add current Fluid level....good restriction, good food choices, but night cough/reflux. remove fluid....can eat the house down. I'm very frustrated and discouraged. I just started taking Tagament yesterday..helping a little. I dont know what else to do. Anyone who can relate, please share. I'm praying I dont have to have another surgery.

I am 4 years out. I have severe esophagitis and a hiatal hernia. My band isn't as snug as I would like it, but any tighter and my reflux flares up and I am miserable.

So it is taking me a little more will power to slow down more, weigh out my portions and stop eating. I find that even though I sometimes want to eat more and physically can eat more, I still stop. And I am being satiated for 4 hours. If I do get hungry before next meal I snack on string cheese or almonds.

I would stop messing with the fill level. I was doing the same thing. A little in, a little out, a little in.... I have had 24 fills and 8 unfills. Yikes!!

So maybe try backing out a teensy tiny fill amount from your reflux amount. A .2cc fill/unfill can make a huge difference. And add a little more willpower to your arsenal.

Good luck. I hope you find what works for you.

I have a similar issue, i had to unfill my band for cancer treatment, and over the folliwing year could never find comfortable restriction until my surgeon gave me a really good one. In the end i had a barium swallow and yes, very slight pouch ilation, tge band itsekf is paced fine but is very tight. I do get occasionl heartburn, but not actual reflux, never get stuck ir vomit.I know I cant go any tighter, and I am abke to work with what I have.

All in all though, I am aware that I can eat more and I actively work against that. Maintenance takes more work than losing did in the early days.

My band is fine, doc says it will be fine for years if I treat it right.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
