Take your pain meds on schedule- if you take the meds when you start feeling pain, then it will take awhile for them to kick in. Also, the gas is a natural side effect from surgery due to the co2 pumped into your stomach. It is not the same kind of gas as intestinal. Take some MoM in the evening if you feel constipated, but don't make this harder than it should be.

WALK WALK WALK..I can not stress that enough..I have severe back and I was in tears it was so bad but walking did help sooooooooooooooooooo much..Also when you lay in bed on your back get one of those very long bags and have it PACKED with ice, double bag it and put a towel between your skin and the ice bag..I am serious this will help you so much..Good luck and congrats on the decision you have made.

Thanks everyone! I am feeling only very slightly better than I did last night, but I am trying to get up and walk alot. This gas pain is so bad, my stomach looks like I swallowed a hugh beach ball and its so hard. My shoulder pain is pretty bad too. I am also starving!!!! I was kinda hoping to not have the hunger kick in for at least a few more days........I am not usually this cranky, but this Fluid diet is a killer!!! I want FOOD!!!! I know this will eventually get better, but wow, its alot harder than I thought it would be at this stage........

Thanks again for all your support, as it makes this more managable!

Yes... Walking and doing like "windmills" with my arms gave me much relief. Also my doctor told me to take advil 5 days straight, and the pain gradually went away after day 3. Good luck girl!

I also remember letting hot Water just beat on my back/shoulder while in the shower.... That was the best!

Hi, I am new and 4 days post op. I am over the gas pain today. I had the lap band w/ plication. My pain is everytime a take a drink. The Fluid goes through the band but then sits where the plication is, thus my pain. Has anyone else done plication and felt this way?

Chaya, please take the codeine....I was on it for three days straight.....it's ok

Than you're all good! I was nervous about taking it too-but there's a reason why they give it and it made the whole first week fly by like nothing :)

No, I just get strange feelings when the food hits the top part of my stomach if I eat too big of a bite of something or take too big of a drink. Feels like it wants to come up, but nothing has. I find that I burp a lot more after eating that I did before. I can't say that it has been painful with anything liquid or pureed which today is day one of pureed foods!

Pain meds are a Beautiful thing! As far as the gas pains sleep with your heating pad! I had those gas pains for 2 weeks post op but walking helps! The pain is only temporary! And you will feel better just hang in there! Nothing worth having is achieved easily!

Why are you eating???? NO NO NO. You should only be on liquid for 5 days. No food at all.

No wonder you are in pain. I am post op 1 week today and I just started to eat and it is only 5 items. (egg beaters, refried Beans.. i.e) Take are of your self and stop eating.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
