I am getting a little discouraged and feeling badly after reading about everyones success. I am about 4 1/2 weeks post op and only down 10lbs. 20lbs. total since pre-op diet. I am always hungry and feel no restriction. I can't wait for my fill on June 14th! I hope it helps with the weight loss! Good luck Everyone!

I also am only down 20lbs total and it's a little frustrating, my surgery was May 16 and my fill is next Wednesday.

Um... ONLY 10 lbs since surgery?!? That's over 2 lbs a week! You are completely on track. You know how much willpower it takes to lose 10 lbs with zero restriction whatsoever? you're doing a great job!

I am not exactly sure how much I've lost since surgery day. A couple weeks after surgery I gained almost 8lbs despite following doctors orders. Since then I have lost that 8lbs i gained, plus lost another 1 lb. Happy with that for now.

We have to remember the band is slow. If we are losing 1-2 lbs a week, that's a success! Heck... If you're not gaining in the first couple months that's a success.

I know we'd all love to lose 30lbs by tomorrow, right? Lol. I know rationally that it is a journey and the weight will come off 1-2 lbs per week. But of course i secretly would love for it to happen quickly! I think everyone has been doing great. Congrats all!

Just had my first post-op appointment today. They kept asking me why I haven't been in sooner, and I told them, "You guys made the appointment for today, not me." Hahaha... Anyway, the doctor said I dropped a lot in almost three weeks. He also said that they normally don't give fills until 4-6 weeks post-op, but he scheduled me for this Saturday (happy dance). I'm glad to be getting my fill so soon, because I am SO hungry all the time. I know any restriction I might have had from the swelling is gone, gone, gone. I haven't lost any more weight, but I haven't put on any, either, which I'm happy about.

The doctor also gave me the ok to eat solid foods again, just to chew really well and eat slowly. I thought it was a bit weird considering I'm only a few days into my mushy/pureed phase. But I have experimented with solids yesterday and every thing went down smoothly. I made sure to take my time and chew, chew, chew.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Wow' date=' that's great! It's funny how much a difference every few lbs makes. I cannot imagine how good I'll feel when I reach my goal weight.

My hunger has been pretty bad today. Only staying full for 2 hours at a time. Guess I will have a snack. Hope I feel differently after my fill this week too. Does anyone know if you have to be on liquids the day of/after a fill? My doctor never said anything about that.[/quote']

I have my first fill in the morning and my doctor gave me no restrictions before the fill. Said after the fill I will be on liquids for the rest of the day then mashies the next day. After that just introduce what can be tolerated starting slow.

I hope it is as simple as that!

Hello All,

I've been reading but have not had much time for posting. My surgery was May 14th, and I had my first fill yesterday. My doc says it takes about 4-5 adjustments to get it about right. I'm doing well, down 21 since surgery..and down 69 since I had my first appointment with him on January 4 2012

He recommends liquids for the day of and after a fill. I have to say that I have had no hunger, as I think the plication has really helped during this time.

Good luck and best wishes to all !

Nita

Got my fill this morning. It was uncomfortable and a weird feeling, but not painful. My stomach doesn't feel too settled at the moment.. Maybe it's swelling. Anyway the PA weighed me and said I am down 16lbs since surgery (yay)! She thinks I may be near the green zone already because I'm losing so well. But that doesn't make sense to me cuz I told her I'm only full for 2 hours! She said I should be full for 4-5. I will need to ask more questions next time but i guess this is a good starting point.

Anyway she put in 3cc's, had me sit up with the needle in and drink some Water. The Water had lots of air bubbles going down into my tummy so she said I was too full. She took out 2ccs. I only have 1cc in my band now. I am just praying I'm not hungry 24/7 now that there's some Fluid in there. Have to be on liquids for next 48 hrs then can start eating solids. I'm a little worried cuz my friends wedding is on Saturday and I want to be able to eat normally.

I got my first fill today (3 weeks post-op). I didn't have anything in my band during surgery. I now have 3.4 cc's in my band. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hey all!

I've been having some port pain today and my major incision where the port is hurts today too. I'm thinking I may have just laid on that side a bit too much lately. What are your port sides feeling like around about 4 weeks post-op?

Just before two weeks post-op, I no longer had any pain or discomfort around my port, or from lying on it or on my side.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
