  1. I did with my surgery on May 14th. I had asked to get it out early, so my surgeon ordered an abdominal ultrasound that showed gallstones. Actually, he thought my surgery would take a longer bit of time, so he reserved the operating room for three hours. I got the band, plication, big hiatal hernia repair and gallbladder removal. Because I had followed the pre op instructions he said my liver was beautifully small, so the whole thing only took 90 minutes. I don't think my recovery was impacted because of the gallbladder, I was on post op liquids for two weeks because of the plication. Our bodies are amazing creations..but it is interesting what we can do without. I have had appendix, tonsils, adenoids, and gallbladder removed. I am getting a hysterectomy on August 20th. I am feng shui-ing my insides...lol
  2. Hello ! My surgery was May 14th. Banded plication, hernia repair, and gall bladder removal. It was a breeze. So much easier than I expected it to be. Today is Day 4 on my doc's plan. I can have full liquids. I'm still just doing vitamin waters and sugar free popsicles. I did put cream in my coffee this morning. I am not really hungry and my doctor says you really don't need to eat for a week..it will jump start your weight loss and speed healing of the plication. Congrats to all the newbies and best wishes to all the soon to be ! Nita
  3. Hello Everyone, I've been lurking and reading for quite a while. This forum has been great as I have been going thru the processes for this surgery. I felt it was officially time to introduce myself and say Thank you to everyone for the information, stories, encouragement, and experiences. The time has seemed like forever since I began with my first doctor visit on January 4, 2012, and at the same time..like a flash. My insurance, Aetna, requires three months of supervised counseling. My doc, Robert Cywes, encourages the low carb- high Protein way of eating. He also has a Phd in liver immunology, so I figure he is the expert on how the body metabolizes and processes food. It's been pretty easy for me to follow it..he does not limit fats. Mainly carbs from vegetables, not fruit..and meats. I'm down almost 40 pounds since then. On May 2nd, I have my pre-op visit and will begin the liquid, pre op diet until the surgery on the 14th. I am just trying the Protein shakes now..Yesterday I purchased the unjury sample packs. Looking forward to the journey ! Nita in Jacksonville
  4. Cory - Best wishes on a speedy recovery ! I am looking forward to the updates from you and the other Bandsters with plication. Mine is scheduled for May 21, 2012. I am in Jacksonville, FL. Let's all stay in touch. Nita
