Lalaj, Not a weenie at all! You want hear about a weenie move, I through myself into a full blown panic attack waiting to go to the OR. Thank God for the Dr.s and nurses who sedated me ASAP. How is that for Weenie! The good news is we are finally on the other side of our journey!

This is totally something I would do, cause myself to have a panic attack, which is my worst fear.

Hey everyone, surgery went well. Got there at 630 was wheeled off by 745. Didn't start the surgery until about 830 they were waiting for the pregnancy test to come back. By the time I woke up on recovery it was around 10. they repaired a hiatal hernia. Pain level is about a 7. On my way home. Very nauseous!

Hope everyone else did well today!

Congrats and wishing you a speedy recovery!

@bbbanded SO happy everything went smoothly! It's over quick. when you get queasy that feeling don't try to push yourself. Did they give you meds for it? Is it when you stand up/walk, or constant? It eases up after first two days but I know it's hard :(

@banded_moroccan I think that's normal for some because these Clear Liquids have barely any cals. If you can, sip tiny amounts all day. I'm having a hard time doing it too. I feel stuffed soo easily and I'm scared to overdo it and vomit.

@MandaElaine I had same fear. I am the most anxious person I know.. But it's odd how this calm comes over you after you're prepped (IV/heparin/gown etc). It felt out of body. You have put so much thought into this and have nothing to fear. take deep breaths, pray and then it's over. I don't even remember them putting the breathing mask over me or counting down. I was OUT!

Has anyone here experienced bad breath pre-op diet? I never had it but now it's like ugh? I read it's a side effect due as u lose weight the fat is breaking down! Just wanted to ask! This is embarrassing! ;(

I know what you are talking about. I think that it is kinda like ketosis (sp) that people on the Atkins diet experience. Ihave been chewing a lot of gum..but am finding that I wanna swallow it cause my m tummy wants food...ll

Hi all' date=' Don't Know if anyone has experienced this or not. I eat like a champion, my band stops me when I am full (means I can't eat more, otherwise, my tomach hurts me and I feel stuck). The problem is, I digest quickly maybe, but I am always hungry and eat every 2 hours... Is that normal?[/quote']

Maybe you need a fill?

OK' date=' IM starving now, I am almost a week prost op. I just feel like I need to eat.. help!!!

I have to get thru this![/quote']

You can do this. I know how hard it is for all of us but you like the rest of us made this commitment. think about the big picture...imagine six months from now. When I get hungry now and I start thinking of going off this diet and eating a burger or something as equally bad for me I walk around the house, yard work...wherever I am. It always makes me think how much easier it is since I started losing. Another thing I do is read how many calories are in what I am tempted with and how much walking it wil take tho burn that many calories. That normally changes my mind.

Hey May Banders,

I'm 3 days post-op and feeling pretty good. Had to go in to my Dr.'s office yesterday. My port incision starting looking really bad (red, swollen, firm & warm to the touch) & I spiked a temp @2am. The Dr. 's office was awesome. I was able to see him a couple of hours after I called. He prescribed Keflex and my wound already looks better.

The only other thing is occasional pain when drink something cold. It hurts so bad I'm already thinking about getting an unfill next week when I go in for a check up. Not sure how many cc's are in my band but I feel super tight!! I'm able to get thin liquids down but sometimes it feels like my band is squeezing my stomach. Which sends this unbearable pain across my chest. Anyone else with plication have this issue?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
