Cost in DFW

I'm seriously considering Lap-Band surgery and am going to have to self-pay as our insurance company does not cover lap-band. Can anyone tell me what it runs in our area?

Thanks,

Sue

Hi Sue,

I used Benavides in Richardson (Surgery Center of Richardson). It cost $15K and covered the surgery + post care and fills for a year. I liked the doctor and the Surgery Center. Good Luck!

Got mine 3/03/06 by Dr. Wade Barker at Vista Hospital in Garland for $12,500. I got a quote from him the end of last year. I think his price went up slightly at the first of 2006. Great doc, one-to-one service at the hospital. Mine was less because of using this hospital. It's not the prettiest place on the outside, but the care was excellent.

NanaSue,

I'm also looking for a D/FW area Doctor. I'm going to 3 centers this week to check them out. I will post what I find out. I'm just starting to research my options, I may have to be a self pay.

I used Dr. Snow also but had to have surgery Decatur because my insurance APWU would not cover Surgery in Hurst at the Surgery Center. My cost a little over $18K. I am very happy with my band and Dr Snow is very good. Just banded on 3-10-06...no fills yet still to early. As of today I am down 18 lbs. Only really get hungry once a day.

Good luck it took me over a year because I first had BCBS and they (after 5 months) refused to pay for the surgery. I changed to my husbands insurance in January and had surgery in March.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
