Tracking Food....

Recommended Posts

I am looking for some help tracking food. I have never been great at this, but once I am in the habit I do well. My scale is going the wrong way and in thinking about what I need to do, I have decided that I need to track both my food and my exercise (which really means that I need to start moving)

So if anyone has things that have helped them and would like to share I would love the help:hungry:

Hey, Dawn, long time, no see...

I use www.sparkpeople.com to track EVERYTHING!! It has been a life saver for me. Of course, you are in charge of entering you info, so you have to be ready for a BIG commitment to keep up with it - the rewards are well worth it though!!!

Did I mention that it's FREE!?!?!?! WOO HOO

Good luck, fellow December bandie!!

Cheri,

I have been looking some but not posting. Do you know if there is a way to print out a sheet that can be filled out and then enter it later? I will go and look tonight. How are you doing?

I have another fill in just under two weeks : )

For any of you who have Excel, Dawg made a spreadsheet which has calculators in it for your BMI and Body Fat percentages. It also has a sheet for entering your daily food intake, a sheet for logging your weigh-ins that calculates the average weight loss, and a sheet for journaling. You'll need WinZip to unzip the file.

Sus - I'll take a look. Thanks.

I use fitday.com like Nykee and Jessie. It's free. It did take a little getting used to, but really is pretty easy to use once you get used to it. It has a bunch of foods already in the database with all the nutritional info. If you find one that's not in there - then you can add it to your list of foods for reusing. You can also track your weight and it graphs your weight loss over time for you. It also lets you set a weight loss goal and food intake goals and tellls you what you need to do to get there. Example from my fitday.com page:

Current Weight

Your weight is 192 lb as of 02/25/2006.

Weight Goal

Your goal is to weigh 135 lb by 10/31/2006

Goal Progress

You are currently 57 lb above the target weight.

The deadline for your goal is 248 days (35 weeks, 3 days) away.

To meet your goal you need to lose about 1.61 lb per week.

The only good thing I got out of the "6 month supervised diet" that my insurance made me do was a program for my computer called "Balance Log" I paid about $70.00 for it and actually really like it!

It is very user friendly, you can set up how you want your meals structured, you can break down by day/week/month what your totals are for meals, nutrients, exercise, Water...and a few more. It totals your nutrient intake for each day so you can see where you are on your protien/fat/calories etc. every time you open the program. It is also web compatible as well as palm compatible.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
