I Am Crying As I Write This...

Recommended Posts

For the past 23 years I've been an emotional eater, and now that I am a month post op I can't eat my emotions and I am sad ALL THE TIME! I went for my first fill today and lost weight, I should be happy. But I can't stop crying!

I mean I am a 23 year old junior college sophomore, who hasnt had a date since my ex fiance married someone else (a month after we broke up) I have a part time job and I live at home.

I dont have alot to be happy right now, and I just.. I dont know!

I guess I'm just reaching out for some support, lol I could use a hug!

You're working on the physical you. Now it's time to concentrate on the mental you! Therapy and antidepressants might be just the thing. Taking an antidepressant is no more a sign of weakness than taking meds for diabetes or high blood pressure, so see a doctor asap!!

As for the ex-fiance?? I think you're really lucky that he's an ex!!!! Now the best revenge is to get yourself in the best physical and mental shape of your life and then he'll know just exactly what he lost!

I'm sorry you are struggling, but you WILL be able to get through this.

Most colleges offer free counseling services, so please call today to make an appointment. There are professionals who care about you and want to help you get through this tough time.

What could you do right now to help yourself? Sometimes one of the following activities can help: journaling, listening to music you enjoy, watching a movie, going for a walk or engaging in some other form of physical activity, reading, chatting with friends/family, or volunteering. You may have some better ideas, so do whatever healthy activity you think you might enjoy most. If nothing sounds good, still try to make yourself do something that will distract you from the negative thoughts.

Be confident that there will be better days ahead.

So sorry you are feeling blue. Why not find something you like to do and join a group. Anything you like, singing, exercise, dancing, painting, etc. You will meet others who like similar hobbies and who knows who you will meet along the way. I find when I am blue....I try to get out and do something I like. Thinking of you and will say a little prayer for you to be in the pink soon.

I am sorry to hear about your story... =(

Have you heard of meditation? I know it might sound crazy but try it out it really calms you down and it definately helped me with my journal in terms of weight loss.

Rae - Don't give up. You're a pretty girl. You can do this! I just got divorced after 14 1/2 years (my ex had a 3 yr affair) and I am better off without him. Way better off. You're better off without your ex that left you. When I got married, my husband was the only real relationship I'd had. I'm 41 and my divorce has been final for almost 5 months now and I've not had any dates or really any interest shown in me by guys. Sure, it's depressing, but I now I'll find someone eventually. I don't have much of a social life, but I've joined a couple groups on meetup.com and am going to make more friends. I'll probably meet some guys through them. Fingers crossed, but the point is for me to put myself out there, where I can meet someone. You are on your way to being a healthier you and you'll find someone. I have been an emotional eater myself and still struggle with that and with guilt over bad food choices. Hang in there, okay? Please feel free to message me.

Prayers going up for you, Rae. I think many of us are in the same boat as you when it comes to emotional eating. We have to find other ways to deal besides food. Reading, walking, hanging at the beach and going to the gym help me. Keep busy to keep your mind off if food. Any hobbies you like will help. Even readng these forums. Much success to you. :0)

My friend had surgery a year and a half ago. She also had a really hard time emotionally. She has recently started counseling to help her deal with the emotions she had been pacifying with food for so long. Her recommendation to me was to start counseling as soon as possible after surgery, so that it doesn't pile up on me all at once. As some of the other posters have suggested, it may not be a bad idea for you to contact someone at school, or look to see what your insurance will cover in the way of mental health services. This is a happy time, and you should be happy! I hate that you're not....it makes me sad, too. :( We need to take care of ourselves in many ways. Don't neglect your head and your heart <3 Hang in there! It will get better!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
