I have noticed in the last 3 weeks the weight stopped coming off. I am do for my first fill on March 8th. I am doing the mushy food and not going to try the next food group if this is causing me not to drop. I got on scale today (AM) and it said 242 and tonight just wanted to see it is back up to 245 I know that fluids during the day will cause increase. But I seem to go for the fluids when the thought of food strikes me. I know I am only 5 weeks into this but...

I live alone and all my life I figured go ahead and eat this or that Who will know. Well I do not think this way anylonger. So hoping after a fill that will help.

Oh I sure hope it does.

Karen

I feel kinda the same way. i'm going in for m 6wk post-op check up. According to my scale, I've been fluctuating between 30 and 32 pounds lost over the past week. I have no idea what the doctor's scale will say. I'm hoping another fill will help also. Blessings to you!

Yes my fill is at 3:30 tomorrow. I have a different primary doctor then my surgeon. Both have their own way of doing things. One told me NO MORE PROTIEN SHAKES..... And the other said that is what help the weight come off. So just don't want my primary to get ticked off at me for asking other one. I am so baffled at this point. What worked best for me before sugrery was straig liquids. So I might just do what worked for me then From Jan. 13th to my surgery date Jan. 30 I dropped 15 pounds so what is happening. I do not want to have to drive 100 mile vs. 14 miles to get a fill. I like both doctors and their staff. Just baffled.....

Hi Karen! First of all congrats on your weight loss! We have to remember we didn't gain the weight over night and its not going to come off that way either. I say that with the admission that I was weighing myself almost 5 times a day at first! My poor scale  I ONLY weigh myself in the morning now in just bra/underwear. Also, I was stuck for a few days, teetering up and down a pound or two then it came off all of the sudden. You have to look at NSV's too. How are your clothes fitting? How are you feeling?

In regards to Protein Shakes, my surgeon agrees with your PCP- most of the Protein should be derived from solid foods. I maybe have 1-2 protein shakes per week and I find it is more at late afternoon right when I get home from work I'm starving! So I'll just do a Protein Shake instead.

You should also notice a difference with each fill. I got my second fill 3/8 and notice a difference already. Just to warn you though, after each fill it seems like its a miracle, but then as I'm "needing" another fill (around 4 weeks) I've noticed I could eat a horse. My surgeon said that once we hit "the sweet spot" with fills, I shouldn't feel like that anymore.

I have been stuck at 38-40 lbs lost for about 2 weeks! My first fill was on 2/10 and I loved it! Now, not feeling so much restriction, so I was working on getting into the doc to get a second fill. I am switching doctors since my original surgeon decided he was more worried about his reputation than my ability to get good care from him and his staff.

I have had some upset stomach issues for the last few days, so I am waiting on the fill until I don't have any more tummy troubles when I eat meat. I am trying to increase my exercise instead. I make myself walk 4-5 times per week in the back of my development where there are lots of hills. Not showing on the scale, but I am seeing my butt get some nice definition and my jeans getting bigger on me.

I also see my scale go up and down. I gained 5 lbs in 2 days last week, then it fell off 3 days after that. I am attributing it to bloating due to my "period" (I put it in quotes because I don't really have what most women refer to as their period because of my birth control).

Try not to focus on the number. Focus on how you feel. The fill will help and you will find the green zone soon!

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
