Feeling Full/satisfied

Recommended Posts

I started semi solid food this past week. My whole meal should be 3oz. in total. and eat slow and chew and chew. so during my meal I am trying to find when i feel satisfied but I don't know when that is considering I've spent so many years eating so fast and so much I would just eat till i was stuffed and then I knew I had enough. So hopefully i will learn in time what satisfied feels like. Any thoughts?

It's a learning process and everyone is different. It's kind of weird but I feel it in my chest first. That's my signal to spit that bite out. Today I ignored that single now I'm sitting here feeling miserable. But I'm getting ready to walk in hopes of getting relief. You will get there and know when it's time to stop without over king it.

I have been pretty good from the beginning measuring and weighing what my meal should be. I finish it all almost every time. Sometimes I feel I can eat more but I choose not too. I was like you before surgery, I would eat dinner til I was stuffed! Just didn't seem right if I didn't. It was a hard thing to grasp to eat a meal and not feel full. A week ago I went out for dinner and had more rice than I should have. I had about 1/2 cup and normally I would have 1/4. Well, as soon as I got into the car I was stuffed! It may be the first time I really felt full since having the surgery. It was nice to see that I do not miss that feeling at all. Like Brown said above, it is a learning process!

I was banded the middle of January and this has been a little overwhelming for me to figure out how to eat. I am doing a little better now but it definitely takes a conscious effort while eating! I try not to eat when I am in a hurry and chew chew chew so I can let the brain get the message that I am full. It is almost as if you have to think "o.k. am I full yet?" If I can do that now I think it will get easier. I was supposed to have a fill tomorrow, but the Dr had to cancel. I was looking forward to my first fill becasue I have done well without one so far, but my willpower is wearing thin. So the next appointment is in 2 weeks. It is going to take constant thought when eating not to hurry, weight food and staick with the plan! I might try rebooting myself, with a liquid diet for 2 days. It will get better. It's just a whole new game. This is America and we learn to eat in quantity. I read a book" why French women don't get fat" What it said is that they eat to taste not to get full and it is actually true. I would much rather have good food and savor the taste.

That's a good question, one I've struggled with too.

I stick to measured portions and stop eating when it's gone, regardless of whether or not I think I'm full. Since I had my first fill, I have stopped eating before finishing because I get this pressure and lump in my throat that I take as my cue to stop.

For me, full seems to be that tight feeling. I also notice I'm going considerably longer between meals without being hungry, which I take as another sign I'm definitely eating enough.

It's a huge learning experience!

I truely wait 1 to 2 between each bite. Easier when eating alone. I know I've ate to much if i get a sharp pain in my left shoulder.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
