Im Starting To Freak Out Over My "bump" Image Included

Recommended Posts

UPDATE:

I seen my surgeon on Thursday. He gave me a fill and kinda laughed when I told him I was so concerned over my port sticking out. He said "Honey, your port is down here" and showed me where it was..about 3 inches below where this huge knot is. The knot is right under my incision. So I just said "Oh, what is that tissue or something". He had his back turned to me and kinda gave me a half hearted "yeah something". I didnt think about it and thought everything was fine..but now..a few days later..I am starting to freak out all over again. I can pinch it and feel that it is somthing disk shaped. Imagine holding about 3 pennies pinched between your index finger and thumb. Turned sideways. I can actually grab whatever it is. This cannot be tissue. It has to part of the band right?

Im almost 3 weeks post op. All my swelling is gone, I have no pain..but since day 1 I could see and feel my port. I can feel every aspect of my port. When I wear sweatshirts it sticks out. I cant hide it. I know people say they can see their port once they lose weight but mine is HUGE. Im including a pic but even the pic doesnt do justice of how much it sticks out. Last night, when we were laying in bed my husband laid a quarter next to it and it rested on it fully..its sticks out the length of a quarter! is this normal? Should I be able to see and feel every aspect of my port?<a href=6876730509_11b9ee9970.jpg' alt='68767305

I take it that the top paragraph is the update?

I am wondering if it is tubing.

I'm not a doctor, but have worked i the medical field for years.....there is a condition common after abdominal surgery where fuild gets trapped between the out layer of "skin" and the abdominal linning at the site of an incision. Usually it will go away on its own (can tke several months) or sometimes the doctor will either lance it or use a needle to pull the Fluid off. I can't be postive, but this looks like what I have seen many times before. So know need to panic.....but you do need to see you doctor.

Did it require being put to sleep again or how was it fixed? Sorry to hear your doctor didn't take you seriously at first.

And to think your dr said it wasn't the port. Hmmmmm

Glad it has been corrected. Did you have to pay?

Yep..they put me to sleep again. I think the pain is worse this time around. It burns really really bad at the port and I have a hard time getting out of bed or walking around. They charged me 250.00..I guess that was my outpatient co-pay. Funny..I didnt have a co-pay when I went in for the original surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
