Wondering if its normal that the ends of my port incision are a little wet 3 weeks post op? Almost weepy? Im terrified about infection; the only antibiotics I have are in petroleum form, wondering also if applying this is countering the healing process? I wasnt stitched, stapled or glued - only taped & those strips are long gone, hope the moisture isn't pulling me apart..

I would think by now you should be healed; I had some seepage on one wound but only for a couple of days. I would suggest contacting your doctor's office and see if they want you to come in to check it out.

I don't think you should be putting anything on them unless your doctor says its okay. I wasn't told to...and was banded 2 days ago.. and mine look really good like they are already healing up well. So I would def. stop that and talk to your doctor ASAP~!

From what I understand, it is good that it's leaking. As long as it doesn't smell bad or starts to puss, hurt, feel hot or turn red then you are OK. I now have a hematoma clot (bruise)near my port. The NP said one of the reasons could be that it healed to fast before it finished draining. I did admit that I started putting neosporin on it very early because I was afraid of keloid scarring. Now I have to constantly use a heating pad to break up the hematoma in hopes the blood will move and spread for it to heal do I can have my first fill.

Right after surgery that's pretty normal, but 3 weeks later it should be healed and closed.

Brown Kameleon is right, I've had a hematoma before too and that's what it does. Mine took almost 2 months to stop weeping. (different surgery though, not the band)

I'd talk to your surgeon just to be sure. Better safe than sorry, right?

You should not be putting anything on your wounds and you should be keeping them as dry as possible. Self medicating without being advised to by your Dr can cause all sorts of problems.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
