Anyone Ever Get A Pill Stuck?

Recommended Posts

Tonight I was taking one of my meds and I think it may have gotten stuck. I'm not sure exactly what that means yet. But right now I feel like I have something stuck in the back of my throat. It did not start until about a half hour after I broke a large pill into many pieces and took it with juice. If it is stuck, wouldn't I feel it more in the gut, than in the back of my throat. Water and applesauce doesn't seem to help wash it down either. What have others done when this has happened? Tomorrow I am calling the doctor and try to get a liquid.< /p>

it would be doubtful that the pill is stuck if you broke it into peices, more likely that one of the bits of pill scratched your oesophagus on the way down, now that can make it feel like something is stuck in your throat. good idea to get liquid if u can :)

I am not banded yet, but I would tend to agree with Cazzy... Sometimes I will take a pill and swallow it wrong, and then even after a ton of liquids it still feels like it's there, even though I know I've washed it down.

Don't worry. I did this seven years ago. pills do feel like they are in the back of your throat but they go down. Now I take all pills whole but probably not for 3-4 years. You are doing the right thing. Everything "feels" unusual but it's probably fine. When it's not, your system will toss it back.

I have been told by others who have the band if a pill feels stuck you can drink a hot liquid and most will dissolve.

I would also tend to agree that if you broke the pill into pieces it probably isn't stuck, especially since you can get applesauce and liquids down.

Good luck!

No, I haven't had a pill get stuck - though I do often think about it when swallowing pills. I swallow 5 small pills at once every day.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
