My surgery is scheduled for March 2nd so I have a while before the pre-op diet begins. How is that going? Which diet does your Dr. have you on? I will be on phase 1 of the southbeach diet as my pre-op.

Greetings to both of you! It took me a minute to figure out how to respond! Well, I started my pre-op diet 7 days ago and have lost 9lbs. i was losing 2 lbs a day up until yesterday when i lost only 1 pound and today when i had no loss:( for the pre-op diet i am doing something very similar to what looks like the slimfast diet.

breakfast=shake (shakes must be at least 20g of protein)

a.m. snack=small apple

lunch=steamed green Beans and shake

afternoon snack=shake

dinner=lean cuisine and shake (meal must be 250 calories or less)

46-64 ounces of zero calorie beverage daily

i have found the premixed slimfast shakes to be delicious!

my husband is getting banded on March 13! let's keep in touch:)

I love the low carb slim fast shakes as well! The first few days after surgery we actually added Protein Powder to our slim fast shakes so we could get all of our Protein in. My husband and I did this together as well. We are 7 weeks post op, I've lost 41 and he's lost close to 60. I think doing it together makes it so much easier. Good luck to both of you.

Yep we had to drink Protein as soon as we got home from our surgery. They told us it was the single most important thing we had to do. The day of surgery we just had to get as much as we could down in 2 oz portions and then the day after surgery we had to aim for 50-70 grams of protein. That's actually what turned us on to the slim fast shakes. They are only about 10 oz with 20 protein which is really great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
