Soon To Be Banded

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am going to be banded on 1/23. I have been waiting forever for this day so I am sooo excited but completely nervous. I have never been in surgery before so the whole experience is new to me. I have been on liquid diet for a week and a half now and I am getting used to it, yet losing patients with it as well. I am so ready to just do it. I am also petrified to make to move and have this foreign device inside of me being "banded" seems a bit scary.

Hi

Don't worry I had my band fitted 14/12/2011 and when I woke up after surgery I felt uncomfortable as they had filled my tummy with air, so make sure you have peppermint etc to shift the wind ASAP I didn't feel like eating after the op and was like that for a few days, I then just had smoothies or slim fast shakes for 2 weeks and then had mashed food.< /p>

I haven't had a fill yet and can eat anything as there is no restriction this is really frustrating cos I don't feel any different after paying for the band.

I can't feel the band and never have been able to feel it, but have been assured that when I have a fill there will be a restriction and I will lose weight.

Just be prepared for discomfort for the first few days but only from having holes in you and being filled with air

Good luck and don't worry

I too will be getting my Band on Jan. 30th of 2012. I am excited to get started on my new journey. I am 52 1/2 and have been as my granddaughter calls it "FLUFFY" all my adult life. I have found and reached out to people who I have seen in the past 8 months while going to my appointments as a support team in my local area. This is going to make a big difference in the feed back I get. Because I will be able to SEE their resulsts as well as hear about them.

My scale wieght as of today is 260.5 lbs. So will see where this road takes me.....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
