Mine did the same for the first one. Not so much since then, maybe a tiny mark every now and then. The first one was the size of a baseball.

Sometimes I get a bruise sometimes I don't. It's not really anything to worry about.

I've never had a bruise but the area is usually sore for a good day or two afterwards. Nothing uncomfortable...just tender.

What does it feel like to get your first fill? My appointment is 2 weeks from today and I'm more nervous about it than I was my surgery.

So was I then afterwards I thought wow that was easy why did I spend so much time worrying!

Different Drs have different methods. Mine just got me to lie down, he felt around for the port and then got me to do a small crunch , he put the needle in and a couple of seconds later he was all done.Just had to drink some Water to make sure everything was OK and then stick to liquids followed by soft foods for a couple of days.

Easy peasy!

Well if we're being honest...I absolutely hate them and have cried both times. I have another fill in 2 weeks and am already dreading it. I suppose I should mention that I cannot stand the sight of needles and don't like getting vaccines, blood drawn, etc. The needle is probably 4-5" long and I can feel it going in and when my doc pulls it out, it takes my skin with it...I can literally feel my skin lifting with the needle. Grosses me out. I'm usually sore for a day or 2 afterwards and then absolutely fine.

It sounds like I'm the odd duck...I've read other posts and most people don't mind them at all and I have a couple of banded friends who think I'm weird. My doc said after another couple of fills they won't bother me at all...I'm not so sure about that. :) But the pain and uncomfortableness that comes with fills is 100% worth it to me. Good luck to you!

Honestly I did not really feel the needle going in but I DID feel when she was poking around in there to get to the port. Its nothing to psych yourself out over. But its pretty darn sore afterwards ): Don't worry though pain is only temporary!

sandyb- my 1st fill was jan 9th- you sip this yucky chalky drink, you lay down , and the nurse watches a screen to see where your port is. you tighten up your stomach muscles, she puts the needle into the port and you say ouch. all done , easy !! i have another fill on jan 30th. no big deal, you'll do fine. good luck !!!

I had my first fill today. The doctor swabbed the area to sterilize it, numbed up the area, and then did the fill. The only thing I felt was a slight prick when he put the numbing medicine in the port area. I think ripping the bandaid off tonight was the worst part of the process!! I would definitely ask for the numbing meds again for future fills though.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
