Glad to hear most of the new bandsters are doing well! Sorry to hear about your pain, Sojourner, and I hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about.

So I became a February bandster with my surgery on Feb 1st and now I've closed out the month with my first fill on Feb 29th. I now have 3 cc in my band, am on liquids for the rest of the day and hope to start feeling the restriction when I transition back to mushies and soft solids. Can't wait to get this band working!

I will be returning to the doctor's office tomorrow to be evaluated. I have apparently developed the left shoulder pain that is expected, and also an abdominal pain which is not in a place where it is common or normal. The incisions are actually healing well, but the pain has been with me constantly since yesterday, and the pain meds are doing nothing to even take the edge off the pain. Not a happy camper at this point, but will continue to tough it out...good to read that so many are feeling better and are even energetic!

i know this hasnt been easy for you. im sorry that you are having these issues. i hope that its all sorted and not serious. let us know how you go with it...

that loss is just fantastic.. i hope that im like that with my weight loss. the sooner i can shed it and get walking again the better.

did the dr put any saline in your band when he operated??

My band is empty. I will get my first fill on March 19th which will be almost 4 weeks to the day. You will do great when you have your surgery also.

I am three weeks banded. I lost 12 lbs. the first two weeks but nothing this week. I am trying not to worry. In the past this has always been my pattern. Lose some in the beginning, then stop despite being true to the diet. I haven't had a fill yet, and I've heard this is pretty normal, but I sure hope I didn't go through all this preparation and pain to just have the same thing happen to me like all my many diets in the past. Even though I don't have any restriction yet, my portions are very small and I'm eating correctly. Today is my last day on mushies. I really don't have much of an appetite, and food isn't so tempting to me anymore, which I love. But dang it, I wish it would show up on my scales!! I know, I know......patience!!!!

I had my surgery today and my shoulder is killing me I can't even sleep the pain is so bad in my shoulder. Any advise? This is the only thing that hurts!

Walk it out while you still can. I had mine on Monday and it was all shoulder pain, no incision pain so I took advantage of being able to walk around my house a bit. Yesterday the incision pain started and last night it got really bad so I was down. Today I am sore in my tummy and in my shoulder but since it is getting better was finally able to sleep so I am taking advantage of that today. Tomorrow will be the day I try and go down my 3 flights if stairs and back up haha. Baby steps for sure. I may also make it a goal to not take any pain meds tomorrow. :) We will see!

I just got home had surgery yesterday morning. I ended up having to stay the night since I was in extreme pain. I was surprised since everyone's always posting how easy and painless it went. Why was I so unfortunate?? I did everything right with my pre op diet :,( and I'm usually pretty pain tolerate. All they gave me was 5 cc of liquid Percocet my surgeon never came and checked on me i was so scared and alone until they finally let my mom in and see me FOUR hours later. The scars don't hurt it's more inside of my stomach that hurts. Im a million times better today thnk god and im relieved this is finally over with. I know everybody's different and I don't mean to scare anyone that hasn't gone in yet, but I suggest arranging plans for Meds incase you stay the night cus since my doctor left they couldn't give me anything that worked. Sorry for the rant but I had to get it out, because today is the first day of my new life and I believe the hardest part is over. Thnx for listening guys xoxo

Stace2882 I'm with you. I was banded on the 27th and its my surgeons policy for an overnight stay. I was in so much pain from the gas and port site. Today as a better day but still lots of gas evern though I am walking. I know its only temporary and it gets better for all us from here. Good Luck to you.

i hear you... and like you im concerned that my past history of dieting isnt going going to jeapodise my surgery. i was on Atkins so many times and it didnt matter how low i got with my carbs i couldnt seem to get ketosis going. i used to test my urine with the ketosis stick. thats worrying me now.. the fact that my body is too efficient on very low carbs.. did you ever have time on Atkins or any other very low carb diet?

so far so good since surgery. i have had my battles with gas pains in my shoulder but they finally all subsided. i am still getting the chest/indigestion/heartburn pain in the middle of my chest ?? going to ask dr about that.

i am hungrier today then i was before and not sure the creamy full liquids are going to keep my stastisfied not liking the hunger feeling now that its back :( with hunger comes cravings.

i get to start on soft foods on friday, yay, but scared cause i havent lost a lot of weight, i think my illusion that this is an immediate weightloss has taken me over (i know its not good). but i am down and hovering on some days, so i am happy with that. have my post op appt tomorrow, hope to get the go ahead to start working out or atleast a list of things i can do.

Once again I am very happy for having this February support group, we made it to the end, congrats to everyone for making this first step... i couldnt have done it without you guys :)

Judy, yes I did Atkins a while back. Also Southbeach. My husband and I did it both and I lost very little on it while my husband lost more. He got very weak on it though, and eventually gave up and I did too. I've tried most everything out there. Only real success I had, though temporary, was taking the infamous Fen/Phen. I lost 70 lbs., looked great, but it only took me 2 years to gain it all back, plus some. Nothing has worked for me since then and I pray that I will have more success with the lapband. It was my last resort so if it doesn't work, well....there's nothing left for me to try! lol

Well I've been discharged I'm just waiting for paperwork. I'm feeling good a little gas pain and pain on my big incision but walking, breathing and holding liquids down is all great. No complaints. I met Wicked Witch in the halls and I'm glad to have another Lapband friend to compare info with. Looking forward to getting home....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
