Lap Band Surgery 10/11/11 - Newbie!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I was banded 10/11/11. I just had my 2nd fill yesterday and have lost 35 lbs. I really messed up around Thanksgiving, ate too much of the wrong things. eek.gif Then going out with co-workers at lunch just to get out of the office, and the first fill didn't last very long, and I was so hungry. I'm hoping this fill will last longer and will help me get back on track. I had bad news 11/2 - I was notified my job was being transferred overseas, but will still work through 12/30. After about a week, I stopped exercising and that mood lasted for about a month. Yesterday when I went in for my 2nd fill, I had only lost 3 lbs since the month before. At least it's in the right direction, but I know I can do better. So I just need to get back on track. I'm so glad I found this site!

I think the journey will be much easier with support from other bandsters. teeth_smile.gif

Ouch, being outsourced is rough. I have been there done that. That can spin your life out of control, especially when you aren't told ahead of time and they just drop that news on you. I get your struggles, I am glad you are ready to bounce back now. Work @ it and push hard. You will get there!

i was banded 10/17/11 and got laid off 11/4/11. I didn't do any emotional eating (miracle!!!) and have been using my unemployment as an excuse to really get my exercising into gear. I walk Monday, Wednesday, and Friday..and sometimes on the weekend. My longest walk has been 4 miles with a friend (when you're not alone you can go farther!), and today I did 3 miles by myself. I think being so active has helped keep my mood in check.. Im also eating at home for the most part to save money... but I do sometimes meet up with a friend for lunch or something.. I AM a cheap date now :-)

As far as the bad days... I've had 2 or 3... but I try to keep it to a bad MEAL rather then a bad DAY. Also, when I go out to eat, for the most part, I try to eat high Protein so it's not that bad. I know it's hard to make the good choice Vs the bad choice.. but do what you can. If you see that you can't keep yourself from eating bad when you go out, then try not going out.

I know that everyone has got to do what works for them, but this has been my experience and I hope it will help you!

I was just banded Dec. 14, 2011, and looking forward to seeing my weight loss continue. The hardest thing for me being 2 days into my new life, is not being able to eat "real" food. lol liquid diet and tomorrow I can start blended food (yeah) lol. I lost over 30 lbs pre-op so I just keep thinking positive. I understand your situation, but at least you have a source of income. I am unemployed and have been for over a year. It can be stressful and hard, but use exercise as a stress release rather then food. Comfort food was in our past lives, post-op we are new people with new goals and new habits.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
