5 Months Since Lap Band Surgery And Only Lost 30

Recommended Posts

I had surgery July 20, 2011 and I'm only down 30 pounds. I am losing super slow. I feel and look a lot better but the scale is stuck at 200.3 and won't budge! I need advice to get and stay under that 200 number!!!!! Any advice?

30 lbs in 4 months is great! I was told to expect 1-2 lbs per week. So you are at 16 weeks and 30 lbs - that's great! I think the lap-band makes for life-long gradual weight-loss & maintainence NOT the drastic quick loss that comes from the other, more drastic surgeries. I think you are doing great, keep up the good work!!

That is almost 3kg a month. I can't see why anyone would complain about that.

I agee- your weight loss is right on target. My 2cents, as it is in many of my posts, is are you excersising. It would really boost that weight loss along. Start slow and gradually increase the time/intensity. I started out walking slowly for 20 minutes on the treadmill. I worked up to a very brisk walk on an incline for 45 or jogging for 30. If you already are working out, bump it up and/or try something new. Best wishes, you are doing great.

I was banded on July 13th and I'm down 32 lbs since surgery (40 lbs including pre-op). Seems we are right on track with one another. I currently weigh 198 lbs. I got to 199.5 and was so happy to be in onederland, I let loose for 2 weeks and went back up to 203lb. ... Opps!! So right now I'm 'dieting' to get away from 200llbs for good! LOL ... I'm making sure to not eat any bread/pasta/rice and no sugar. Plus I started working out for 30 minutes a day (as of yesterday!) I'll let you know how long I last. My 30th birthday is this Friday the 16th and I'd love to be at 195lb.

Best of luck to you!

Thank you everyone!!!! I feel so much better now!!!! I thought I was just going to be a slow loser but I did notice the weight came off faster when I worked out of course I just need to force myself!!!!! No matter what time it is! I got down to 198 also and i kinda let myself go for a few days to award myself now I'm at 201 so I'm hoping to get back down to that 198 soon cause it sure was nice seeing it on the scale!!!! Much love!!!

Remember you will typically also lose a little slower as you weigh less. You were under 200! That's fantastic!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
