How much did you lose pre-op or have you lost pre-op?

Hey everyone....I have lost 14 lbs..pre-op in 5 days....that is crazy. I can't really tell it though. I know that most of it is water weight but still I was so excited!! I was just wondering how much everyone else lost? I have heard of people losing like 20 or 25 pounds on the pre-op. My friend ofcourse was like " then why get the surgery, just do this and you will lose the weight without surgery"....SKinny people don't understand!!!!!!

Princess, I wish.....I feel like I am starving....I know it is worth it, but I just keep thinking what would one little meal at carabas do...what harm will it really do.....that is wrongful thinking huh!

He had you on a preop diet at 210 pre surgery? Geez. The reason, that I have been told, is to lessen the size of the liver and fat around the liver to make surgery easier. I think some surgeons just like to test us I swear.

I lost 16 pounds - was on the diet about 2 1/2 weeks. I was so afraid I wasn't going to be able to lose enough but was pleasantly surprised.

I don't think overall weight has anything to do with the fatty liver thing. If we've been on a high fat diet for some time the liver will have a lot of fatty build up in it and (in some cases) be too large to safely move aside during surgery.

I had my consult on Saturday, they told me to start a pre-op diet for this reason! Honestly, I was like if i could diet right and loose the weight on my own, i wouldnt be here!

I lost 17 in the 7 days pre-op.

My doc stated that it just wasn;t about the liver thing, he wanted you to get your appetite down, and more manageable b4 the surgery. He insists on keeping sugar and carbs low on the post-op too, as a method to help control hunger after the surgery. I think it helped.

yah, they did tell me low carb low fat....

well...i have been pre-op dieting since i was 20 LOL in all seriousness i am pre-op dieting to lose fat around the liver, but to also lower my hunger and appetite. so far i have lost over 40 pounds. 10 of those pounds in the last month or so.

I lost 17 pounds pre-op. Of course that was due to 7 days of clear liquids. YUCK.....I still don't know how I did it, but it was a good jump start.

I lost about 10 pre-op (2 weeks liquids) and 6 more since then; surgery was one week ago today. So that 16 lbs in 3 weeks.

That is awesome ya'll!! I feel like I am starving. Did anyone else feel that way?

Just curious, how tall are you Stacey? And are you being covered by insurance? If so, which one? Don't mean to pry, if you don't want to share that info, I understand.

I don't mind at all.... I am a little under 5'4 and weighed 210 when I got approved through my insurance. My insurance is United Health Care. They pay 90% max out of pocket is $1500.00. I feel very blessed.

I do have high blood pressure, and was knocking on Diabetes door and that is why I was approved with a BMI of 36.

BUT I am just excited I got approved!:clap2:

I was suppose to do 7 days of clear liquids and I only did 3, I only lost 7 pounds pre op, 229 to 222, I am 191 now. My surgery was also covered by insurance healthlink because of diabetes in the family and acid reflux.
